Surely, I managed to find the one example. I'm a fucked up guy, living in a fucked up state, who managed to stumble upon that one fucked up set of circumstances that just happens to anecdotally corroborate about 10 million pages of documented research on the subject. You're gonna hate this one big steve, another opinion I have as a libertarian is that every federal law should have a sunset clause. I think 10 years is beneficial, it allows EVERY law to be analyzed every 10 years to see if it is still necessary. This is a great example of one that would probably have been struck down (maybe not though since it's been around since the 30's).

Instead of spending time on frivolous endeavors they would need to address any laws that were approaching sunset. In a sunset provision the law ends. As posited the laws would have to be re-authorized, but more likely re-proposed (with amendments) every fucking 10 years. We have a LOT of laws, most of which have nothing to do with Criminal Justice. Imagine in the current environment having to re-argue Trade deals, emissions, and food inspection every 10 years as well. The proposition is classic populism. It sounds good on the surface but as soon as you actually expend some thought on it it's retarded.

He had threatened the cops with supposed bombs that he had planted throughout the area. It's reasonable to assume he could have set those off using his phone or other wireless triggers. I don't blame him, if you don't appear strong in that kind of environment you become prey. In a lot of communities it's standard issue to have a gun or a knife to protect yourself.
