I read an article about a clever study that used incentives as an indirect identifier of accurate self-reported daily panhandling income. $25-50 a day as I recall.
Since a lot of cops are inept, here’s a bold plan to take that to 11:
Gun safety advocates have condemned Tennessee legislation which would designate some gun owners as police, allowing civilians to carry firearms in locations usually reserved for law enforcement.
The proposed law, introduced in the Tennessee house and senate this month, “expands the definition of ‘law enforcement officer’” to include civilians who hold an enhanced handgun-carry permit – earned by taking an eight-hour handgun safety course and paying a $100 fee.
Here is one I remember
This cop is going to prison for shooting someone when they pull away
I’m happy. Need more of these until it stops

^^ bodycam does not match that officers written statement at all. Not even close. Cops lie all the time, but nothing happens to them.

From Luke O’Neill’s newsletter Welcome to Hell World:
Police lie. Constantly. If there’s any point at all I’ve managed to convey with this newsletter over the years I hope it is at least that. And they could not spread those lies so effectively without the help of the media and in particular local news who — I’m repeating myself here — far too often consider themselves duly sworn deputies in the public relations branch of law enforcement.
Speaking of which you may have seen the latest entry in a long line of police lies about fentanyl. Here are some cops from Orange County, Florida dressed like they’re preparing to land on fucking Mars for the first time after maybe possibly coming into contact with some small amount of the stuff.
This whole thing where cops are rushed to the hospital after touching some fentanyl is one of the more easily debunked lies among the many that they like to tell but no matter how many times doctors and scientists and some reporters explain that it is very unlikely to happen this way there will always be a new round of news stories contributing to the panic. That’s because the opposite of what I said about the news media thinking they’re cops also holds true: Cops think they are — and often act as — assignment editors for local news.
They might as well be the way their press releases are passed along without any pushback.
None of which is to say that fentanyl isn’t actually dangerous when used and (I know you know this) anyone out there using right now should be especially careful. It’s just that it quite simply does not attack you like a sentient alien molecule riding on the air from host body to host body as the cops would have us believe.
The reason they want us to believe it does is obvious to anyone reading this but just to lay it out anyway the more dangerous the job of a cop appears and the more that idea is laundered through the media the harder it becomes for people to push back against anything they say or do never mind get anywhere remotely near something like defunding them. After all look at how valiant they are out there risking their lives every day to rid the streets of the scourge of dangerous drugs. For us.
It also provides further justification for destroying the lives of the people they arrest for possession of said drugs. If people like this can use drugs this dangerous they must naturally be inhuman.
Our guest contributor today Zachary Siegel gets a lot more in depth on all this below. Siegel is a writer for Substance a newsletter about drugs and crime which you should check out.

How do we get more of this and less of the bad stuff?

I get the sentiment, Riser, but when the first quote from the cop is:
"When she came out, she had a makeshift sling on her arm, and she just looked very rundown. We just looked at each other. We can't just walk away from this one with a good conscience," said Sterling Candland, a police officer in Henderson, Nevada.
Wonder how many people who need help they do walk away from with a “good conscience”?
ACAB, no exceptions.

We're now at the point where when the cops show up in the neighborhood we no longer look out the window wonder what crazy dangerous thing the neighbor was involved in and instead what crazy dangerous thing the cop is about to do to them... for nothing or next to nothing...
If the cops are out there, I'm watching the cops so if shit happens it's not just the cops word against the person they killed..

Strong disagree. The ACAB sentiment has more to do with the institution and not the individual. ACAB means that by simply being a cop, that cop is upholding the entirely corrupt, brutal, and hypocritical institution of police departments.
Cops don’t go out of their way to help people unless there is a good PR angle for them.
Video of Buffalo police shoving a 75 year old protestor to the ground circulated a while back. Guy hit the concrete, stopped moving, and blood started pooling around his head. The police kept walking right past his limp, bleeding body then lied on their statement saying he tripped and fell. Those guys are all set. Back on the force today.

From Jalopnik:
Creative use of aggressive copyright lawyersA police officer in Santa Ana, California, admitted to blaring Disney favorites from a squad car PA system in an attempt to keep citizens’ videos of their actions off of YouTube. It just so happens they woke up a sleeping city council member, who took police to task for their annoying and suspicious tactic.
I think it got off track when they started replacing walking with driving and partners with computers.. and people (smiling faces) with more guns and body armor.. Add in the racist fucktards who stormed the capital.. Still way too much of that white trash working forces pretty much everywhere..

Obvious cross checking.
The real outrage in this incident is a system that lets the city and the police union pick an arbitrator that never finds police at fault in use of force incidents. I bet the city uses a different arbitrator when they actually want to win--like when a cop falsifies his hours to get OT or something like that.
