I absolutely hope that he gets the maximum penalty possible. I'm not sure that it can count as premeditated if the act that killed him has started. I was wrong about the second degree murder charge, but I'm happy to be in the wrong here.
Though it really doesn't speak well to the system that we all thought that there was a chance that he'd get off despite the literal video of him killing the helpless guy while people pleaded for him to stop.
