Apparently dirty cops don't like people walking down the street with a shower head..

Nothing will change until law enforcement is held responsible and that doesn't seem to be changing anytime soon.

The courts aren't going to do it, so we have to do it through legislation. California is on the right track.

An interesting perspective on the relationship between police shooting black men--and a white man--and the pervasiveness of guns in our society. The gist is that the police know that there is a high likelihood that anyone they encounter has a good chance of having a gun on their person.

This one should bring out some interesting--and predictable--responses

Well the video of the crazy guy kinda looks like possibly ONE shot may have been justified. No way shooting anyone who isn't shooting back ten times should ever be anything but murder though..

Things won't change, even with different legislation, even with special prosecutors, things won't change.. They won't change because the 95% of mostly good cops still refuse to stand up against the few REALLY bad apples behind the blue code.. That's why nothing will ever change with this horror..

It is not possible to be a good cop and obstruct the investigation or prosecution of criminals. There are no "mostly good" cops who refuse to stand up and do their jobs just because the criminals happen to be cops.

The more I watch the more I believe we need to demand that states require a professional license to practice law enforcement or carry a weapon as a condition of employment. This is probably the only profession in this country with an ability to impact public safety that does not require a license. That's ridiculous.

No licensure leads to fired cops always finding work elsewhere. Which means no meaningful oversight because the cops have to be found guilty of a crime (and effectively can't be sued) before any consequences blow back on them. Present them with a real likelihood of losing their livelihood if they lose their license and there would be a much more likely consequence in play. Instead they have unions.

That is insane. That cop should get a murder rap, but I'm not gonna bet on any charges being filed as per the usual

So fucked. White kid, so charges maybe. Conviction? No.

edit: missed the mention in the article that they had already declined to file charges. Jesus. If I was that kid's father I'd probably end up killing that asshole myself.

The article says exactly that; no charges filed.

What's the best way to stop a suicidal person from killing themselves? Beat them to it! (Note: Do not literally beat them, use your gun.. a lot)

    You racist piece of shit.

The guy who called 911 on the black kid says he regrets making the call because the kid who was shot is not the person he witnessed smashing the cars. Cops shot the wrong person.

Which means white people are fucked up for not protesting unarmed white people being shot. If white people are so afraid of black people that they're willing to tolerate one of their own to be shot as the price of police protection, that's on them.
As far as making the news--the cops will have to shoot a few dozen unarmed white people to make it a news story of equal import.

Who oughta be shot is every Justice who voted in favor of letting cops shoot anyone they're afraid of.
We need rules of engagement for cops that are at least as protective of the lives of civilians as the rules of engagement in Iraq and Afghanistan.
From the rules of engagement for Iraq: "a) Positive identification (PID) is required prior to engagement. PID is a reasonable certainty that the proposed target is a legitimate military target. If no PID, contact your next higher commander for decision

    b) Do not engage anyone who has surrendered or is out of battle due to sickness or wounds.

    c) Do not target or strike any of the following except in self-defense to protect yourself, your unit, friendly forces, and designated persons or property under your control:

    Civilians . . . ."

As usual, you are out to lunch. Police can't for instance just use shotguns at kids throwing rocks.

Many departments do have training issues with how use of force tends to ratchet up. That doesn't mean they are unrestrained or unprofessional. Our military is also incredibly restrained and professional, but there are lots of things they can do (and should be able to do) that our police can't.

Also, relative to crime rates, police shoot caucasians at a higher incidence (relative to those crime rates).

The other side of the coin.

    No one deserves this'
Two sheriff’s deputies were shot and killed Thursday in a restaurant in Trenton, Florida, in what appeared to be an ambush, officials said.
The shooting occured at 3 p.m. at the Ace China restaurant when a man walked passed a window and shot both through the glass, the Alachua County Sheriff's Office said in a statement made on behalf of the Gilchrist County Sheriff's Office.

Yeah, that's horrible. The shooter was found dead outside. Makes you wonder if he had a personal beef with the two officers.

    Back on topic: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/crime-c...leased-n867671

That makes upwards of 170 people who have been exonerated from death row, usually decades later. But, yeah, the death penalty is great and we should eliminate the appeals process and just march people straight from sentencing to the execution chamber.

Thinking that the death penalty is driven by police brutality is neither linear nor on topic.

But, let's blame the police for everything.

No one? Far as I can tell quite a few cops deserve that. Wouldn't be surprised if these guys were dirty and got what they deserved.

Quoted to show the utterly disgusting nature of the poster and of a large contingent of the left. No surprise that you also tried to blame your kid's tutors for your kid physically slamming other students, rather than treating that as a parenting issue.

Two men got murdered in cold blood, while sitting down to eat, and you sit here and slander them, you piece of shit.

Extreme injustice in the justice system as a whole is out of bounds in this thread? Fuck off. Also, a lot of these guys ended up on death row due to coerced confessions that were the direct result of police brutality. So, again, fuck off.

Dude, we have no idea who these guys were yet. Save that shit for when there's actual evidence of that.
