Those Falcon Heights cops weren't really in much of a hurry to start CPR.

Unfortunately CPR does nothing to help someone who has been shot--when there's no blood to pump pushing on the heart doesn't push blood.
I read that cop as scared, undertrained, and unqualified. Not that there aren't plenty of evil, racist cops shooting people too. And plenty who aren't necessarily racist, at least no more racist than almost all of us, but who get off on asserting their authority and power over people they view as easy targets.

I've met a lot of cops in my life, but only one who seemed justified in choosing that profession. Based on personal observation, of the 100% of cops I've met, roughly 30% are discernibly racist, 50% are prejudiced toward the lower class, 75% are insecure bullies living out their adolescent authoritarian fantasies, 99+% are willing to tolerate these behaviors in other LEO's, even if they don't engage in those behaviors personally, and 100%, without a single exception, consider it their job to build case evidence to convict people in custody, rather than to support the identification of guilt or innocence as the evidence becomes available.

I've also worked with many professionals who blatantly disrespected their clients... Investment Bankers, IT Engineers, drug dealers, etc.. But none who showed such complete and utter distain for every person walking the face of the earth who did not wear the same uniform as do the cops I know. There are even a couple of 'em I basically Iike personally, but I wouldn't voluntarily let them in my house or car for $1,000,000.

Riding home from work yesterday I was stopped at a red light and noticed an early-20s black guy pushing a bike down the sidewalk. When he got closer to me he asked if I had a pump. I surely did, so we stepped onto the sidewalk and I showed him how a mini pump works. He pumped up his tire, said thanks and reached out to shake my hand. Had I been a cop I could have shot him, claimed he made a threatening gesture that made me fear for my life (reaching for a handshake), and had I even faced charges it's almost guaranteed I would have walked. Insanity.

Not being a poorly-trained psychopath I just shook his hand and went on my way.

Another acquittal yesterday, though not the absurdly egregious miscarriage of justice that the Castille verdict was. Suspect was armed in this case, but had thrown his weapon and was surrendering.

The video doesn't tell the whole story. The video doesn't show the events leading up to the video. The police officer felt threatened. The police officer feared for his safety. The suspect could have had a weapon. Police offers are forced to make quick decisions.

Any combination of those should do.

-Philando Castile
-Terrence Crutcher
-Walter Scott
-Samuel DuBose
-Freddie Gray
-Eric Garner

Any others I'm missing? All except Castile were unarmed and all except Gray were caught on video and clearly unjustified. Castile's gun was permitted and he never drew it, and Gray's injuries occurred while cuffed in custody. What in the fuck? I suppose the fact that the cops in these cases were actually charged is progress, but that is of little comfort to their victims families.
