I’ve heard that tons of people are looking for wide brakes. Sorry, I don’t have any. But, I did manage to make some last weekend. I got a pair of Spatulas and needed to get some sort of stopping device on them to ride Baker the next day. I was about to strap the skis to my legs and hope I wasn’t beaten to death in a cartwheeling fall down Hemi when one of my buddies suggested bending the breaks out. Now I have bent breaks before by lashing them to the skis and proceeding to torque the little bastards till they fit, but that operation seems to have and expiration date (the brakes eventually explode, or just don’t fit at all). Anyway, to make a long story, well, long. Me and a buddy of mine each grabbed the brake with a pair of pliers and bent them straight out. At this point if you put the brake on a ski it would look like you had strapped stopping device wings to your bindings. Next we measured how wide the breaks would have to be to fit the Spats. Finally we grabbed the brake with pliers again and bent them to fit the wider skis. It all seems so simple and yet so genius.
The point is, before you order, pay for and wait for wide breaks. You can make em yourself.
I did this with Salomon brakes, but can’t see why it wouldn’t work with just about any.
Good luck
