    Bear Mountain...

Just a lil heads up for anyone planning to go maybe tommorow or thanksgiving..

I was up there today.. Totally wack..

Conditions were pretty bad to say the least.. Super icy up at the top, all the inruns and landings to the jumps were super sketch.. The snow got a little better towards the bottom, where masses of snowboards crowded the few rails and boxes they had set up..

That was the worst part, the fucking CROWDS, they were INSANE... In three hours I only got to go down 3 times.. Fuck.. By that time I was so pissed I just booked.. They only had 1 lift and 1 run open..

Another thing, of the few skiers I did see I didnt see anyone else riding twintips..wack..

If you only have one day to ski, do yourself a favor and just do a burrito run to Mammoth.. I know thats my plan..

I feel your pain. Above is the reason we moved to Ootah. Mt. Dry and Big Bear's lack of snow and terrain just weren't cutting it.

Although the fact that you can surf and ski/board in the same day kinda makes SoCal resorts worthwhile.

EDIT: Just noticed that LAX-SLC roundtrip airfare is about $150. Might be worth it to snag some of the powder we've been getting hammered with.

Any reccomendations on cheap hotels near alot of skiing in Utah??

I would love to hit Alta, but I ride with a snowboarder so that a no go..

Sidestep.com, baby. Install their little plugin and you can get some amazing fares.

Stay at the Motel 6 at 7200 South if you want a cheap hotel ($40/night) with walk-up access to the ski bus. $5 roundtrip gets you access to Brighton, Solitude, Alta, and Snowbird on the ski bus. For more info see http://www.utabus.com

Did the "turn around" on Saturday and wasn't disapointed. 4" of new that was deeper were it had been deposited by the wind. Some fun pokes were found. Hikiing up into Climax from the back of 3 provided some fun turns. Skiing under the closed chair 5 while boney, provided untracked runs all afternoon. Cold smoke in the afternoon http://www.telemarktips.com/index.htm I'm a big fan of Waterman and Baldy when they're on. I have a hard time paying for Mtn High or Big Bear lameness. Skied 50 days last year with only one local day .....
