    Ski Swap Score ?

Its that time of year SO what did you score ?

I got some brand new sierra design 3 ply/ full zip/ gortex bibs for 95$, perfect for the hill
I probably got enough skis for now but I seen lots of fairly current wide skis with no bindings for 200ish, wonder if maybe people buy them and realize there were not many days to use them even if you don't have a job

No longer a vendor, so its the first year in fifteen that I didn't pick up a single thing at a swap.

    That is robbery. Well done!

no name ski pants $35 brand new ...

some name never heard of jacket with removable puffy that I have been sporting to the bar for 5 weeks ... $35 ...

i didn't have any other jacket, road trip went from summer to winter ... leave me alone ... I'm not a hipster !!!

I'm expecting epic failure on at least 1 of these items .. if so, it will be in the ratbagger thread for sure ..
We, the RATBAGGERS, formally axcept our duty is to trigger avalaches on all skiers ...

It was last year I wanted to go from Tech bindings to alpine clamps on my Lotus 120's so that would have been 300$ list, Instead at the swap I found a lightly used pair of Salomon rocker 2's / STH14's/ wide brakes only 125$, split the setup & sell the skis to get the bindings I need for only 67$ !

So its that time of year again, what did everybody score this year ?

I almost went just to fondle ski/ hang out but I most definatley did not need anything and did not go

IME its always a good idea to take a tape measure to a ski swap

I eyeballed a few pairs of skis at the grand junction ski swap yesterday, but got cold feet. Some M-pro 99’s with pivots and rustlers new in wrapper. I’ll probably swing by tomorrow mid day to see if I can talk them down on the already good price. I don’t need more skis, but doesn’t mean I wouldn’t enjoy them.

    Ski Swap Score ?

There was an untopped “fourfrnt Prototype” at the West Seattle ski swap for $forty that looked like a one-eighty-eight inthayne. It took everything in my being to not buy them….

BBSEF’s swap has been ruined by local ski shops attempting to dump merchandise at or near retail prices. Hardly any gear submitted by normal folk.
I did pickup a pair of Hestra trigger finger mittens for $50.00 though. No funk and in excellent condition.

    Interesting, this...

I feel it's kinda the same thing in JH. It's already a bit of a pain taking a bunch of gear and hardgoods to point A, get it dialed in, pay money to sell stuff that may or may not sell, then give them another 30% if it sells. If it doesn't, you gotta go retrieve by 4pm or you just donated it all.
This used to be worth it as usually you could unload about half or more if good quality.

Nowadays, since they started letting bigger retailers in too, the locals are being undersold on new gear that is often not as good as some of the used gear. Janky labels, cheap gloves and goggles, yadayada.

The JH swap is big, I'd say about 600 pairs of skis, 300 boots, 1000+ softgoods.

I bought some old lifelink poles for $20 and a pair of kastle 78's? for the clamps for $25.

Picked up a pair of 194 XXLs at BBSEF swap, there are still goodies to be found. Agree that value for community is eroded by including shop overstock but it’s not gone completely.

One of my peak ski bum moves was selling perfectly fine, albeit old skis I found by dumpsters at the ski swap.

The opposite of a "score" --- I just struck out twice.
I tried to get a short 184cm Legend Pro 105 with STH16 for $75 from Craigslist, but that seller said he gave up on craigslist and left them at a Reno swap. By the time I got to the swap, they were gone.
Also, a drilled-3x beater Pettitor for $30 that I wanted so I could aim for rocks at Crested Butte, but someone else beat me to it.

No tears...I have lots of other skis.

I would paid at least twice what I paid for my last ski & binding score just to get the binding and I couldn't have shown up late, also where there was always a seperate alpine and XC swap now they just combine it

I don't know about anywhere else but IME ski swap prices are way down from where they were, 15 or even 10 yrs ago and the ski stores dump excess product at the swap as oposed to trying to flog it next season

it is probably the interent, my ski bud had a pretty sucessful ski/ gear shop and they got out of it and bought a hotel cuz " we seen the writing on the wall " said mrs ski bud
