I dont think i ever mentioned core or that you had to have these skis to be so. If you dont enjoy skiing fast through crappy snow that on softer skis require carefull planning to avoid death cookies and other obstacles than you can stick to your spatulas and soft snow. The squads arent just for big lines and straightlines, once you spend some time on them they actually turn quite well just not quick turns, no need to turn quick though when you can just blow through anything but a tree that you might run into.

my comment was not directed at you personally, it was at the direction of the ski industry (stiffer and stiffer skis)

I agree with the above comments

That is because, compared to skis, snowboards are already gigantic.

to me it seems as though the industry is (in general) moving AWAY from stiff skis... and concentrating more on shape and softer flex. take a look at the popularity of SP's/Maiden's, PR's, B3's, mojo's. and compare to how few pairs of 103's, SS/DP's, LP's you see...

even the monster 85 and explosive are being dumbed down.

Minor point, but many manufacturers do use cap construction for their WC stock SL and GS skis. All speed skis are sandwich construction, which is why the reps swap them in the finish for the retail cap models.

correct me if i am wrong, but i think salomon wc dh/sgs skis are cap, though it is effectively a sandwhich w/ the topsheet bent around the sidewalls.
