That might work. I'm in Storrs, CT so not all that far. Let me try to figure out my schedule for the next few weekends and I'll PM you.

Thanks man. I've got microspikes so might give it a go if it's just a bit icy in some places. It is going to be pretty cold tomorrow so everything wet will likely be slick, but, well, I'm sure it still beats working!

Just guessing here, but I would be surprised if the snow depth was an issue. MWOBS says wet rocks with traces of snow for ground conditions. Only 6.8 inches of snow total for the month which coupled with sun wind and rain should have brought down the accumulations. The Pemi is lower and should be better if you are concerned. Over a dozen years ago I tweaked a shoulder slipping on ice on an early season trek. I have brought poles with me since then.

Those are some long treks in the available light.

edit: oops talked with someone and your question was answered

Sounds good. I'll double check that I have the plate. I know I've got the one for the dynalooks, not sure on the sollyfit. Think both patterns are on the same plates.

Washington Observatory's facebook page. I am aware that it might snow an inch or two tonight, but who knows, supposed to be sunny tomorrow so might be worth a go if there's no real accumulation tonight
Saw the same pic on FB yesterday from MW Obs and looked damn snowy. Imagine microspikes is all you'd need and I would be sure to bring them! That time of year. Treacherous without!

I'm actually planning on hiking through the night tonight and finishing up tomorrow afternoon so I don't really care about daylight. Never done the pemi loop before so I will probably give it a go!

Single daying the Pemi Loop has been a goal of mine for years, never did it yet. I did it in two days 3 years ago. Good luck, its a burley hike, especially when you get past Lafeyette until Bond. Such a cool area, I'm jealous.

Another goal I've had in that area is to ski the Mt. Bond landslides. All but given up on that one though. Such a cool area.

Storm looks like its going the wrong way on the GFS.

It looks like I *might* have the opportunity to cut out tomorrow and/or Friday and do some climbing. If anyone is interested in climbing at Farley Ledges, shoot me a PM.

What? Nobody is driving down to W. VA for the first storm of the season like last year?

Dude, doesn't that just mess up the snowpack for the skiers that come after you?

Cold, dark, wet, windy, and awesome. Microspikes were absolutely necessary in lots of places. Many a medium sized snow drift along the trails. Beautiful hike. LONG hike-- I really underestimated it. Kinda figured it would be just like the presi traverse only a little longer but all the tough terrain came near the end when my legs were already dead. Went pretty slowly though, I think I could shave off quite a bit of time in the warm weather but it was fun. Get it while you can if anyone is debating giving it a go! Time for a nap!

Hey rog, why don't you brog about how you did it in Oct 88, got caught in the blizzard, drove home, did it in reverse with skis, then mtn biked to the shore, and caught sweet double overhead clean Easties while everyone else was too busy trying to dig out their avy gear.

Checking in. I don't have a stress fracture to contend with like I did with Sandy a few years ago so I am going to be a go for Sunday if the storm pans out with 12+ inches. I have myself on call and will make a decision Saturday evening.
