Sunday River opening date set: 10/22

They'll have twelve trails open to start, with top-to-bottom coverage, and their new skier concierge service will save you the hassle of having to click into your bindings on your own. I heard they're hiring Rog to give an opening day demo on how to make useless, noodly tight little turns on boring EC terrain--you'll find him giving the demo in the Sunday River backcountry, located three miles due north of the base village in a stand of old growth (soon to be cleared for condos). He'll insist that the corn snow he just skied is the best in the world, despite physical evidence that he just wiggled across 120 feet of dead leaves and patchy mud.

Pfffttt, everyone knows Rog doesn't ski early season. If he did teach though there would definitely be a no helmet rule.

SR is almost always good for powder turns on the first storm of the season. Seriously some years I thought he was getting kick backs for all the blow he was giving SR.

He’s skied only a few times each season ever since getting avalanched, so an on-snow instructional clinic from him is rather unlikely, but he still dispenses his gear advice at another forum:

Looking like they are trying to go T2B which would be pretty impressive.

Too funny I posted in that thread you linked Jonathan and then I came on here.

Was not going to go to SR, but if they have T2B that could change my mind.

Agreed. And pretty amazing for October. 1300' of vert and no downloading versus 600', downloading, and the stairs is a win in my book.

Perfect. I'm at my mother in law's place in Maine, I have tomorrow off and I have my ski gear handy. October turns will be had tomorrow.
