    NZ -- who and when?

July for me, just not sure exactly when. Seems like there are several people planning on heading there, so drop your dates and general locations.

Chances are that it will be another year (at least) until I get there, but it is on the hit list. Club fields and bc excursions. Not having to learn another language, bonus points for tons of sheep, whats not to love.

I'll be there July 10 - August 7. Starting in Auckland and departing from Christchurch. No set locations other than having the plan to be on the mountain when the snow is good and checking the sites when the snow is not.

I'm moving to Wanaka on june 11.

Ski Cardrona, Treble cone, and all of the club fields in the cragieburn range.

Stay all winter, at least. Leave when they kick me out, or I go broke.

I am a member at Temple Basin and can confirm that the place is reeeeeeal good. Just bring a climbing harness along if you have one, it makes the lifts much easier, and if they ask you if you want to buy a glove protector the answer is YES!

It might not be GOOD, but there's a real cheap (as in free) DOC hut just off the road between Craigieburn and Temple Basin on the Cass Lagoon Saddle track. Probably not the best for an extended stay, due to lack of shower, electricity, toilet, and running water, but it is CHEAP

Full price from the ski area is about NZ$12 (US$8). It should not break the bank.

Headed down on May 30. Arrive in ChCh and hopefully find a car/van and then head down to Wanaka. Sometime in July I will probably head up to the club fields. I'll be there for a while so my dates are open for anything. Just not sure where to go. How about some place cheap.

Highly recommend picking up Lonely Planet's New Zealand. It has the locations and phones of just about every hostel, hotel, and even a couple farmstays on both islands.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

Bump... I'm thinking right after July 4th. Perhaps 3 wks. 1 in Auckland, 1 in the Craigieburn, 1 Mt Hutt.

Love to get updates on everyone else's plans...

trying to get some tentative dates for this. IMO, I think July 4 might be a little too early. I mean, there will be snow and everything will be open, but the snowpack won't be as deep and there will be crowds at all the commercial mountains. I'm thinking more along the lines of August, and late August at that. I'll try and go for two weeks, that will definately give me enough time to hang in Wanaka, ski TC and then head up north and possibly stop at Ohau. Then just hit up all the club fields. Temple Basin, Craigieburn/Broken River are definite stops. 06 chill passes are on sale right now, $285NZ for a 10 day pass that's good at 10 mountains.

I like to wear my harness in the bar or Club house....it makes the package look bigger than it really is.

Oh and btw, this shit looks really fun on a snowboard:

Me and the Mrs. will be there on snow from Sept 3rd to 14th.

Bodhi - those things are notorious for being snowboarding's worst enemy. One buddy of mine = bloody nuckles from hands going through the wheels.
