Cuffs aside, my hands stayed warm skiing and riding lifts at -2 to -5F for 6+ hours the other day, without ever having to pull my fingers into the palms to warm up; something I've never been able to do with my hestra XCR 3-fingers. It also snowed all day, and my hands stayed dry.

Can't really ask for much more than that.

Got mine earlier this week. They look good, fingers the right length but pretty tight so counting on it packing out & loosening up a bit. Will have to chime in later on that as it doesn't look like there's real snow coming any time soon.

Used mine today in -3 to 8 for a couple hours. Pretty dextrous right out of the box, and my hands were warm. A little tight across the back of the hand with the adjustment loose.

I'll keep em in the rotation with my kincos.

Mine arrived today. I'm excited they are tighter than I remember. I suspect I was actually trying on the xl but didn't realize it. I like the fit and assume they will pack out. Goobed the leather with some mink oil but couldn't find the irregularity that made these such a deal. Thanks FTP!

I don't know what your hand position is like when you ski, but from this comment I'm going to assume it's shitty. If you're skiing right, you're reaching downhill each turn, and planting a pole with the forearm and bicep making a slight "V," thus placing your elbow below your wrist for most of the time you're skiing. If you're a hack who skis with their hands in their pockets, short gloves are probably the choice for you.

Ordered, short cuff gloves arrived a couple days ago. Thanks FTP! These feel very solid, and I don't have any really warm gloves so they may turn out to be my warmest pair. I usually wear a large in BD gloves, got a large in the short cuffs, and they are good, just a little tight in the direction of improving as they pack out (tight across, not tight short). I wouldn't size up unless you are really between sizes. Now I just need to find something cool enough to deserve the Thurman the Ermine sticker (that, and have some actual snow fall).

I picked up a pair of gloves as an alternative to my Hestra mitts. Unfortunately the XL felt a little too tight (I wear size 11 Hestras). They may have been fine if they pack out, but I decided to return them and hopefully they will offer an XXL at some point. The gloves seemed very well made, and I'd love to support a small company like this.

The owner contends that the petroleum in sno-seal is bad for the stitchings in gloves; Not just his but all gloves. He loves His all-natural leather Balm sold on his website, I have always had good results using Nik-Wax Waterproofing wax for leather

They seem like he's tried to cram too much thinsulate into the damn things. Hopefully there is significant packing down.

And the cuff on short gloves is way over stuffed/too bulky, difficult to see how you'd easily get most most jacket cuffs over them. Would have been far better with just a simple knitted cuff.

Just my 2 cents but who try's on a pair of $59 gloves and makes anything other than a cursory thought before skiing them to see how they will actually perform? Wouldn't you want them a little tight out of the box ?

Me. I care because my FtP gloves were constrictively tight when I wore them on dog walks but I was informed that they would pack out a little bit. Like so tight that my fingers were cold.

I wear med flylow gloves and the med FtP gloves are now a perfect fit after wearing them inside for a while making fists and assorted gang signs.

I wore them riding yesterday and today and they performed well. Got above 30 and they were way too warm (obviously). Cold (9F to start) and snowy all day today and my hands didn't get cold.

I do think the back of the hand real estate is a little bare. Ok if you don't want to advertise your gear but a slightly bigger Ermine patch would be cool and pretty incognito. You can't see the little guy under your jacket and he might get lonely
