Flipping through stations last week a cranberries tune was on The River, so I listened...she always just sounded good and hot to me. I hadn't heard them or thought about them in years. Then this past weekend I'm in my CD cabinet digging deep and the cranberries cd jumps out at me. I didn't play it as I was looking for a Dylan, but it was just weird to see the news this morning. RIP

If anyone is looking for a totally kickass radio station that is primarily alternative from the 90s, 80s and a bit of 70s this is it:

    https://www.971theriver.com/entertai...Vn4SJUHChDW9L/

I jam it mostly on the iHeartRadio app cause the digital FM signal is spotty at best.

You’ll hear Pixies followed by live Beck followed by Jesus and the Mary Chain all in a row. Even found a couple new bands that I like thanks to the station like Dum Dum Girls.

Well, if the reunification of the Robinson Brothers and the Black Crowes (still awesome by the way, but let Steve Gorman back in fellas) didn't convince you that money helps put aside all disagreements, then this should leave you with no doubt:

Noel and Liam Gallagher have announced that they're getting Oasis back together and are touring the UK and Ireland next summer.

ETA: I guess someone should help me edit the title of this thread to be 30 Years Since Many Great 90’s Music Debuts since this thing is now 10 years older. Sheesh.

If anyone gets Oasis tickets I'd suggest one of the earlier shows. Who knows when the Gallaghers will decide to call it off again.

Honestly, I'd love to see them but I don't think I'm willing to travel to the UK or Ireland to do so.

This was my first thought LOL. They may just walk out on stage at that first show, look at each other, and then one of them will tell the other to fuck right off before walking back to the bus.

I saw them forever ago in the early aughts and they put on a great show. Very talented band despite all their nonsense.

Same. I think it was promoting their first album "Definitely Maybe." I don't think I really saw them after they got huge.

Thread being said, despite what I originally thought was a bad music era at the time turned out to be one of the best. To steal a quote from one of the articles at the link, the music at the time inlcuded:

And yes, I understand many of the mags will fear to be outed as not solely limited to Zappa fans. (see link for my complete disclaimer)

What do you remember about 90s music 20 years on?
Well that certainly deserves a fuck you, especially in light of Mother Love Bone, Face Ditch, Nirvana, Green River, The Beakers, Wipers, U-Men, Screaming Trees, Soundgarden,

Hey man, it wasn't personal 10 years ago, and it isn't now!

And yeah, great list you got there.

These guys had the PJ drummer for a few weeks: https://faceditch.bandcamp.com/track...ll-down-side-a while my friend Henry Franzoni took a break.

Henry just died, an icon of the place and time, pork pie hats, weed and camels mid 70s Portland.

Need to update the thread title to 30 years (ufda) I guess.
Anyway, the Wu is back and going on tour with all founders on board! (except ODB of course who will be replaced by his son)
    https://pitchfork.com/news/wu-tang-c...ce-final-tour/

    https://dnyuz.com/2025/02/24/how-rza...ne-final-tour/

I saw the Wu with Rage Against the Machine in 1997 and half of Wu missed the bus from Pittsburgh the night before. They still rocked and Rage was incredible and I think I paid like $25 bucks for the lawn ticket which is light years away from what I've had to pay for concert tickets these days.

I wonder which group stays intact the longest through their tours this summer: Oasis, Black Crowes or the Wu?

Ha, I was at the Pittsburgh show that year. I remember going to a Black Sabbath concert around the same time thinking: “man I’m glad I got to see them, this has to be one of their last shows”

    aren’t they still touring?

Ha! Yep, just give any act with a decent catalog and enough surviving members an audience of people with disposable income and they’ll keep the music going. As the great 90s acts start to hit that criteria, and are still able to put on a great show, I fully expect to keep shelling out way too much money to go sing and dance for a few hours of musical nostalgia.

Apparently the Wu is coming out with a new album too in connection with the tour. Call me old school, but it has to be better than the autotune mumble rap nonsense that's been popular since actual hip hop seemed to die a decade or so ago.
