here we go again with wasting money on infrastructure that doesn't add any more skiing. I love how they think this will put them back in the top of the ski area game in north america. Im sorry but until they figure out how to raise the mountains a thousand vertical meters or bring on the next ice age, you can build all the redundant lifts you want and it wont change the fact that they only access dirt.

this has me feeling a bit better about the whole situation. its likely just a publicity stunt to generate pass sales after a bleak season

Forget that, prepare yourself for the tram from State-line to Kirkwood. Vail's research shows that 50% of skiers like to ski both Heavenly and Kirkwood on the same day, so by removing those cars from the roads Lake Tahoe will be 25% clearer!

You can ironically thank the drought for dramatically increasing lake clarity in the last year or so.

A few basic errors in that article--Troy never "completed" his project--as we all know, there are lift poles, nothing else, on White Wolf, and Troy isn't selling the land; according to the press release, Squaw will lease it--Troy will still be Squaw's landlord. Nonetheless I agree with the basic premise--publicity stunt, to inspire season pass sales, which are probably running low right now, and to dangle a carrot in front of prospective buyers of condos in the new village. Also, maybe something to dangle in front of the KSL investors wondering when they're going to see some return. KSL has been talking about replacing Red Dog, Granite, and Hot Wheels for several years with no action taken. Why expect the Gondola to happen in the foreseeable future?

As far as tossing around buzzwords--how about these that the author tosses around: "Electric shuttles running 18 hours/day between the two resorts and charging stations in the underground parking would be nice. Living roofs for growing year-round and solar-powered chairlifts." Not to mention "farm-to-table" and "co-working spaces".

Based on the way Vets skis. I'll go ahead say that over 15% of skiers ski at more than 2 resorts in one day. Thus supporting interconnecting all of the resorts in Tahoe.

Regardless. If they build it, skiers will come. I see the interconnect as a good thing. Tourons will spend less time on the lifts and hill and spend more time going back and forth between bases.

And this is the first year I thought a Silver Lake Tram might not be a good idea. Although, the west bowl off of Timber is still holding snow. So that lift should get built. An the Cali Chute Funi, and Emigrant Return Pomo are so needed to improve the experience.

What about a TRT Monorail? Or is that more of a Shelbyville idea?

    LOL
If they had the Tahoe Interconnect I'd be able to ski more than 8 resorts in one day.

Squaw has extended their season for another week, to the 26th. Maybe so we can all ride the new gondola, which should be done by then. Can't think of any other reason.

^Ditto for the bumps at Rose. Skied the heck outta the "Bonanza" trees and helped shut down the Slide side (it was the last weekend for it) on Sunday.
"The Chutes", while closed, are looking tasty, too.
Hoping to be there for closing day (19th) shenanigans.

    The Heav weren't half-bad today.
banged out some NV side laps with Vets and Bullhorn, mostly sticking to the trees off of "Meteor" with one bump bangin' lap down "Comet". Snow wasn't quite corn, but it was smooth and enjoyable all things considering.
