    Sounds like you're set up this season.... You still windsurfing Wes? Crissy field is pretty nice, but probably know that.

    You might need some new gear, tho

    I think your credentials are well known around here.

    Beacon practice is always a good idea.

    Follow-up from the Squaw pass glitch:

    We appreciate your understanding about the mistake we made Tuesday and know that you were disappointed that getting a pass for $1 or less really was too good to be true. You acted so quickly, though, to attempt to purchase that we believe you are excited to ski at Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows this season.

    As such, we are offering you an exclusive low price on a Tahoe Super Pass for 2014-15. To take advantage of this offer please call us by 4pm PT on October 17, 2014 to purchase your pass. This special offer is only for you and cannot be transferred. You'll be asked for your first and last name as well the email address where you received this email. Your season pass will be activated once you have completed and returned your season pass agreement and release of liability. These forms are available online and via email.

    Tahoe Super Pass Special Rates for You
    Gold $809 -> $499
    Silver $579 ->$399
    Bronze Plus $519 -> $299
    Pretty solid gesture from KSL I guess.

    Pretty much what you'd think they'd do. Seems fair.

    You should counter with, "How about a refund, a bacon sandwich, and you stop using Alpine as the overflow area for Squaw?"

    Start Haus in Truckee is looking for a couple of tuners for this coming season. If you either have tuning experience or are very good with your hands, shoot me a PM. This will be a full time position for the season. We do not have a night shift.

    Interesting. Kinda rules out the "ski during the day, work at night" approach.

    Thanks dookey. A few there I hadn't come across before. I put together a Google calendar with most of them but couldn't get it to embed in a post.

    Sounds like a good gig to me. Back in the day I worked flexy full time at a couple mtn shops in Truckee and Tahoe. I skied a lot. Was better for me than doing a night shift.
    I didn't believe in reincarnation when I was your age either.

    This is what we do at Tahoe nowadays--watch ski films instead of ski. Maybe Ullr, or whoever the true snow god is, will be more merciful this season. Perhaps our burnt offering--100,000 acres of forest--will appease him or her.

    Interesting about the cat ski op they are trying to run. I guess barely opening last year prompted something. Not sure how many people are going to be doing that. Wondering if they are going to close that section off for skinning. Probably so.

    PSA.

    Was just in the woods above the grid and there seems like a bunch of fresh cut trees in piles. They could be available for firewood because it sounds like the forest circus is just going to burn them. Anyone looking for wood heat this winter maybe contact FS or Rockwood tree service for more info.
