You guys were all dicks to me in this thread last year when I asked for some advice about a trip I had planned out there.

    Suck it.

    Love colorado.

PS, most resorts out here have seen about 200 inches of snow so far this season, with 20 inches in the past week in most spots.
you're completely full of shit and wrong. Colo. is as bad as tahoe, I mean unless 30-40" of base is what you consider all time. Very few resorts have seen 200"-----

I think we need to do a full moon party on February 3rd. I've got some old pairs of skis to burn. Top of the world off North Benjamin Kingsbury grade.

State Board issued a notice of potential water rights curtailments:

Same thing happened last year. Fun times.

Probably a little late, but I was up there Sunday so I figured I'd answer your question. It's not completely bare, but not worth skinning. I booted. It's patches of ice/snow and dirt. Strangely, the longer patches (skiable) were down closer to the highway. But man, taking off skis every 20 feet to walk across dirt sure was fucking annoying.

    Fun is right.

Family will be at Squaw next weekend (Jan31-Feb1) for a GS race for young Owen.

We can get $54 tix. Anything better?

Well KW looked a lot better than I expected when we did a drive by after skating Caples. Folks were having fun on the groomers anyways. One fat bike on the ice. Could have used a sail.
It's not my fault you can't telemark.

almost went MTBing in auburn today but said fuck it and am really glad i went to kirkwood instead. the forecast was for near record high temps, but it never got horrible and the snow on the groomers was surprisingly good, though icy later in the day. off groomers was icy as fuck but hella fun anyway. 4 was on wind hold all day. the evil e also shut 6 down for a spell after lunch but it eventually started spinning again. some sort of local breweries deal was happening at the 7800. knee deep, sudwerk, mendocino brewing, etc. etc. etc. don't know if they'll be there tamale. no crowds whatsoever. i may go MTBing in auburn tomorrow, but most likely will head back up the hill to kirkwood. i figure in this brave new world, if there's snow on the ground and the lifts are spinning, then i should be fucking skiing. that is all.

Guilty of MTBing. Auburn is ripping right now, but you brought out the fact I keep missing... It is winter.

Went and poked around Lassen National Park today. So much shit out here. We're lucky as hell to live in CA with unlimited options. Surf, ski, bike, do it all in the same day right now if your sick of reading BA's suicide letters. Keep the stoke up, it'll snow in Feb. Until then, don't bitch and ski corn.

Squaw upper mountain was fun today. Park jump line is kicking.

Skiing is fun, even in suboptimal conditions... Lighten up people!

Did you ski off the peak at all? Looks like you are south of it across the street

    First day out?

I figure there is some good skiing happening right now, especially with the warm temps. Sun is not high enough to really over bake things. OTOH, the surf is rocking, so why drive more than ten minutes. I even bet the MTB is real good down here as well. Buy why peddle, when I can paddle?

Took off the snow tires, washed the 4Runner, and then sold it.

C'mon winter. I dare you to return.

... going mountain biking. Again. Sheesh...

You're right, just south of the peak. Still some fun steeper corn laps to be had... I guess they got a pretty good dump last month and it's stayed around. The peak is up the road a few more miles... It's a mission for just a day to get all the way out there, most people are hiking to Lake Hellen and then camping and skiing off the peak.

kirkwood yesterday > kirkwood today. 4 and 6 were on wind hold from the opening bell; and i haven't seen 10 spinning since before christmas. temps were way warmer today than yesterday and slush was everywhere. 6 finally opened around noon. took 2 runs off the groomers and it was slow, sticky slush from the top. i threw in the towel around 1:00. damn, i shoulda gone mtbing.

^^^Sorry to hear KW was the Suck.
At AM yesterday Summit6 was on wind hold most of day but ABC was running if you didn't mind the line.
"Most Fun" skiing was off Scott next to groomer. Bumps & bushes. Cornalicous.
A lot of the stuff in the sun was also hammered on by the Cold Wind so it looked inviting but was rock hard. Good for the character!
(Groomers were fine of course, goes without saying)
Couldn't make it to Squaw today after all. Boo!
Heard it was pretty much "all locked up" yesterday by the Cold Wind.

Thinking about a Lassen trip later this week (Wed-Fri) depending on weather. PM if anyone around.
