It looks like a nice day to be up there.

It snowed at Kwood yesterday and then it got warm and was sleeting and blowing huge ice chunks at the top. Most people were soaked in their front and dry on their back from skiing through the clouds and my beard was nicely iced.

Today, I am taking out the Explosivs and doing some gear tuning. Tomorrow or Monday a tour? I heard the BC around Kirkwood is still great.

Great? Is that a relative term? I'm only going to surf until we get more snow. As a protest.

It appears you have gotten in more runs than anyone so far this year...

Thank goodness for airline miles is all I have to say. I have skied 3x the amount of days in other states than I have back in Tahoe so far this season.

I was told it was great. I don't know this old timer enough to qualify it but I assumed it was relative to icy ski resorts or NO snow.

Just curious, but who in North America has it good right now? I need someone to irrationally hate and blame.

we just returned from the wasatch and they had it very good compared to us. not awesome compared to their normal year but still very good. we saw so many peeps from here we referred to it as East Lake Tahoe.
Jackson has it very good as well. I hear they had an icy spell but they have a deep pack and are getting hit again.

I feel a road trip to SLC coming on soon.

Taking the snow tires off today. Sitting at Mt. Rose waiting for some friends to show up - the snow is so bad that I don't want to ski any more, but haven't skied with them in awhile, so sitting on the deck... At least the free WiFi works.

We are so fucked. Look at these temps on the 10 day. By the time it does finally snow, it's going to be on dirt.

Agreed that an SLC road trip or quick flight on SouthWest may be in order.

Man, fuck those guys! They're obviously stealing our snow with Mormon voodoo and caribou fart clouds.

Had nothing better to do, except work, so headed up from the Bay last night. Insane amounts of traffic for having left so late.

Alpine is decent so far this morning, but my god it's melting fast. Sherwood is still open, via HighT only, one or two decent lines remain.

Anybody want to go to Japan?

Couldn't stand it anymore and bought a southwest cheapie to SLC for end of January. I know January tends to be low tide but after 2 years of low tide you figure the snow gods would throw Cali a bone.

2 days ago I toured out to Fourth of July lake, then back up and over to a big wide chute above emigrant lake. Down to Fourth of July was a little bit of corn, lots of refrozen snow, and survival riding through lots of boulders at the bottom. Coming down to Emigrant, almost all smooth windboard, with a short section of shitty wind formations partway down. Not great, but I guess some of the shots around Emigrant Lake would be worth a hike. Not sure which was more fun, the tour or yesterday "ripping"(not) groomers on skis in the mist.

That sounds better than ice skating at N* with a bunch of fur hooded soccer moms. Thank god I am not over there.

Alliance Air is the cheaper option to get to SLC via Provo but I hear that their baggage rates are insane. Idea: ship your gear to your destination with a bunch of insurance. If it is broken lost or stolen, you buy all new setup. Fly out for $130RT and take advantage of the fly in and ski deal followed by days in the canyons and Park City.
