    Sherwood Saturday afternoon.
It skied better than it looks. We were able to ski clean lines from upper saddle then traversing over to south face and also skiing south face past the west gully and last grove of trees. My kid tried Direct Chute at Squaw yesterday--he was able to make turns--two of them going mostly sideways. Headwall face has some really nasty, well-hidden rocks although the skiing was ok.

    This should be peaceful.

Because driving is for peasants. Mammoth I could understand but Squaw? Jeesh. If you can fly a helicopter, you can drive there in only about 40minutes extra.

I wonder if I could get them to bring me a pizza.

I doubt it's even 40 minutes extra. I recall that took about 15-25 minutes when I was life-flighted from Incline to Reno (granted they had me on a morphine drip but I'm pretty sure it was at least 15 minutes). Add on another 10 minutes of driving to and from the helipad, and it will probably cost $200 to save 10-15 minutes of commute time. The views would be sweet though and flying in a heli is almost always fun (exception: when you're being life-flighted).

I still managed to have fun at Kirkwood yesterday. Mounting up new skis may have played a roll in that but weather was perfect, poked around and explored, groomers were still adequate, enjoyed a beer, and my son had a blast at Mini-Jets. Success. Best snow was still in and around Chamoix, just past Funnel in Wagon Wheel, and in Thunder Saddle. I would have loved to poke around Chair 10 but it never opened.

I like the name of the helicopter company, "Whisperjet".
    Yes, and war is peace.

Forecast looks about craptastic. Which makes Washington state look more appealing every month.

Washington isn't doing any better right now. Coverage is so bad that Alpental hasn't even opened for the season yet, and Stevens Pass only has 31" on the ground at the Summit. I've heard ice rink conditions up there but there is a warm refresher coming in. Somehow the storms are sneaking into Jackson Hole (they have a stupidly high amount of snow on the ground, I think sans any scary deep PWLs) while they are completely missing PNW and Tahoe in the process. I don't really get it ...

Just got back from Jackson last night and although they have snow 80% of the mtn is ice. I was able to find good winter snow off of thunder and sublette but that's it.

Utah seems to be doing alright. I'm hoping things here turn around... I always try and stay positive.. but when I'm wearing shorts and saving money on my gas bill it's hard.

I blame the lack of snow on racist cartoonists, Islamic extremists, and Mossad's continuous involvement in false flag terrorist plots.

At least I get to ride Schweitzer Saturday with a good chance of pow.

Hi everyone! I'm in SF for a ski trip with friends who are going up to Squaw on Thu night. I booked a ride with Bat Area Ski Bus to go up to Squaw Thu morning and get an extra day in, but they just cancelled the trip. Is anyone interested in sharing a ride up there on Thu morning? Failing that, does anyone know another way to get up there?

Did not know that about Wa. Looking at the current storm track the sierra is done.

Anyone here remember when Brian Biega tried to make ice climbs on Snowshed Wall by diverting water over the cliff?

    That sux
If you can you switch things around a bit, there is a Bus going up to Alpine Meadows tomorrow.
(Cinders & me are on it. Yay!)

Failing that, go search on SF Bay Craigslist, and also post up asking for a ride.

You could also try SnowPals.org. Friends of mine have gotten rides there.
But you'll prolly have to register first to access their RideShare.

Hey, if you are a Hipster, I guess you could try Uber...

    Good Luck

Nice stoke as always 666; those chutes look sweet, hopefully someday I will ski one.

With all the clouds in that shot I would guess it was not from today? Windless and bright it was today on EB, conditions acceptable even good occasionally.
