a few more pics from back there. all from our first run. we lucked into the line since most everything else had been scoured by the east wind and with only a little snow to start with anyway.

PD your post-processing has gotten better ... new monitor finally?

Looks like more fat biking stoke for the next little while. Haven't been up all season ... how's coverage at KW Cliff Chute/Lost Cabin/Monte Wolfe area?

I can tell you more tomorrow, but coverage was fairly decent last Sat, but I did not ski any of those runs. Low tide down low, but filled decently on the top third, in general.

Anyone knows how the snow on tamarack is?
Concerned it's bulletproof all the way.

I was up there early yesterday morning. Found a little bit of everything for snow conditions. Lots of bulletproof. Some breakable crust. Some tracked up skiable crud. The best snow was actually some of the lower angle tree protected stuff below hourglass. Still some good fresh snow in there.

This holds true for the Donner summit region as well.

Side note: tried the pull behind sled with the infant. Worked pretty well, although it turns out pulling a weighted sled up hill is a bit of work, go figure.

Anyone else have any experience towing kids uphill? Basically I tow her up halfway, and the wife shuttles her back down at the midway point. Taking turns we get 1-2 laps each. I attached the bars to my BC vest and it worked much better than the original waist belt. Also, if you haven't checked out the Dakine BC vest, it's worth a look, very convenient! Man I hear that workout! I found it was easier to use a chestpack or backpack. Baby also stayed warmer imo.
I love my family. Kids are the best.

    Quick question:

kids under the age of X ski free. I think I asked this last year but can't find the info.
Our silver passes aren't good, thinking we should go exploring other resorts but free would prob away me (7yo, getting up there)

I think the Heave got more snow last night than they have all season! Might even be worth skinning over there.

"Great news, we received 10-12 fresh inches of new snow in the last 24 hours and it is still snowing! Heavenly will open at 8:30 a.m. via Stagecoach Express and the Heavenly Gondola, (your two mountain access locations). Today, we are operating 11 lifts accessing 16 freshly groomed trails on beginner and intermediate terrain. "

Looks like you got yourself some nice glass. Second shot: filter or small aperture?

Strange how Heavenly got 12" and no other resort got more than 4. I guess it's only fair after getting skunked on the last few storms.

Kidwoo - when did you take that photo?

That's f22. It's my old wide angle that doesn't focus any more after backing over it with a subie. Couldn't do small apertures with my old camera since the sensor was too dusty.

Nope. Just a weak storm tracking to the east. Winds from the east and frigid temps might drop some lake effect on the west shore today.

^^^ Reno NWS was pointing out a lake effect band off Pyramid this morning that was blowing almost due south (I saw the radar image). So I would hazard that Heavenly probably was getting some of that action. The winds were N-NE last night and this morning, shifting to E right now. You can see it here: http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/mesowest/gmap.php?map=rev Current wind direction at SLT airport is still NNE.

Edit: They actually reference it in a different post for Tahoe as well. See here: https://www.facebook.com/NWSReno/posts/830002037061638 and here https://www.facebook.com/NWSReno/posts/830102890384886

Not saying that's the reason it was necessarily so much heavier (Rose area got a good amount too), but NWS was pointing it out.
