LOL, yeah we did. Then we noticed the free cocoa coupons were for the 2013-2014 ski season. I am sure they will refuse to honor them.

Kirkwood was better than expected. Heavenly was closed due to power apparently so things got hectic a little after 11 but the singles line on 6 was super quick. Snow dried out over the night so plenty of decent pow to be had. Still plenty of rocks. Got bucked by a hidden shark fin and got a nice early season core shot. 11 popped around 11:30 and there were some great turns to be had. They still need a few more feet for things to fully go.
    Go Sox!

Good snow today. Learning how to snowboard has been fun. Going small is cool.

There is a bobcat in my neighborhood in squaw, I think it obliterated the entire feline, cat, population.

Some good Samaritan found an avy beacon out in the wild around Tahoe yesterday and posted it up on Craigslist:

That was us Toby we went to check out the south facing bowl but it did not look good so that was the easiest way to catch your skin track. We went one at a time through there but it seemed pretty bomber, you can see our skin track in the slide zone, went a little higher than you guys went on the left side of eback but did not like the layers over there so we dropped down to this zone. I did a hasty pit and it seemed OK, but no Bueno.

Alpine was pretty fun for the first day of the season for me, Ms. UCL, Enginerd and his lady friend. High Yellow was good to the last drop. Power went back on and place was a ghost town.

Yeah j we stopped wher we stopped on the upper cuz the upper 10-12" slab was test shearing really easily ther. Looks to be about the same depth as your result. Bummer we were so close but didn't run into u. We were about to skin back up for our second run right where you guys ended up dropping your first so we went elsewhere. You prolly didn't hear me but ii,was jokingly yelling noooooooooo at u guys when I saw u point and head that direction

    Nice ^

On a separate note, was snowing on top of Squaw end of the day and really hard winds out of SW. Didn't seem to be making it over the Crest much, as was only a dusting at 6200 at the river. Front for tomorrow is moving in.

Was on the summit of Castle when wind and snow rolled in. Was pretty miserable. Adjusted our plan, and had a great day.

    Today was the awesome
Settled pow on a sponge in fun lines w some,of my favorite people. There is def an entrance fee and an even bigger exit fee where we went but well worth the price. No instabilities to be seen. It started snowing just as we got to,the car. Hope these no hype storms this week over deliver. I suspect they will

Still feels pricey if I want to enroll him 10 or more times. Alpine/Squaw has a buy 5, get one free program. Something like that would be nice.

5 is good to know. I was told I would need to let them know his official birthdate this season. So, next year we should be eligible then. I just want to get him regularly coached, or he will be flail like his papa. And for all the other reasons mentioned.
i'll have to check on the $$ for the Gnarth kid's lesson, but they be cookin' up good ish for the kids these days: they have a regular menu, a vegetarian menu, a gluten free menu, and a dairy free menu: hell, they had grilled salmon with couscous the other day. WTF? No more Dinonuggets, that's for sure. Basically, the kids taking lessons eat better'n me...

Found a new cool zone up around the summit, really amazing technical ridges inbetween insanely scary narrow steep walled drainages that I would want nothing to do with. I'm wondering if anyone round these parts has ever ridden here before Click image for larger version.
