That does not look like it sucked. Jealousy from the flatlands abounds...

    @Powdork - looks pretty sweet.

Anyone know what the deal was with all the trees on fire on 89? Was that just planned underbrush fires? It was a bit strange.

Also found a fort at the top of powderhouse today. Is it there every year but i never get up when the snow is so low?

Better day than expected at the wood - after powhouse managed to arrive just as 6 started spinning. Some nice untracked creamy goodness was had. 10 tomorrow hopefully.

11 is planned to operate tomorrow.

@Ottime - I think it was rabbit runs skiers left -- and you could traverse into wagon wheel on skiers right. Ridge was closed.

couple weeks ago they were doing some controlled burns in there, altho back then they had signage about it.

AFAIK NO SNOW fell south of Luther Pass, no reason to even go looking for it. All crust and wind effect, rumors of 16-24" of unconsolidated pow in northfacing treed areas above 8500 are just that.

Monteys to sentinel. Not really sketchy. Now all you go pack that shit down so we can get on with this. 10 may go late tomorrow but more likely Sunday was the word. Somehow scored some decent pow even though we showed up at noon. 6 was fun and a bonus for sure. Pretty funny once it was not smooth anywhere.
I'm cool with this, as long as you Kirkwood Bro Brah's stay away from Heavenly when 88 closes- TahoeBc

No traffic leaving the bay at 7pm tonight. Hopefully no crowds and I can find something decent!

Snow levels over Donner tonight were at about 4500 feet @ 10pm or so during my drive up. So that's encouraging. Not much traffic. Planning to do some early Alpine laps if anyone else is around. Brought my gear too although more likely for a quick hit on the way back and I assume west shore is still a no go?

Sweet pics powdork. Better over there than I would have thought.

Ashley got a little slab to go but it was totally expected. Trees and lower good, above treeline got pretty windfucked.

No crowds seems unlikely. On the plus side, Alpine Bowl chair is on the menu, so if the Summit line is too long, take Roundhouse and head to A-Bowl.

I'll be in all black with a neon green helmet.

Well apparently a certain Northern California mountain got 42" out of this storm just above its base elevation. #nohype

Crowds were much lighter than expected at AM today, and the mountain in great shape considering. They moved a lot of snow to get things ready, including stuff from the parking lot. Snow had dried out overnight and was great. I bailed when the power went out around 11 and they shut AB and Summit. The fresh was pretty well skied out by then anyways.

To the idiot who passed me on the way out just before the sharp turn at the top of AM road, spun out on the ice in the turn, narrowly missed hitting two cars coming up the road and wound up in the ditch 1) hope you're reading this 2) hope no one in your car was hurt 3) hope you needed an expensive tow 4) thank you for renewing my faith in a just and vengeful god, and 5) I hope the next time you try something like that god gives you Ebola.

Crazy scene at Kirkwood with Heav closed. 11 was good. Lines not too bad considering. Lots of rocks drop in off six.

Agreed on both points. Coverage up top exceeded my expectations.

Was riding ABC when the power went out, 40 minutes to get it onto auxiliary power and get us off.

So... I was at snowbird and the power went out and they just fired up generators and we kept skiing no big deal. Is there a good reason Squawlpine can't do the same?

Based on the reports, we made the right call at Sugar Bowl. Everything opened except for Crow's Nest.
