I liked the CC. Better to wait until there is snow on the ground near Red Lake. We did our field study there.

Definitely wait until there's a decent snowpack to work with. I took it when things were shitty (with very obvious layers to evaluate) and really feel like I need to take it again as a result, which I'm going to at some point.

Donner Summit Avalanche Seminars is also good. I've taught a couple of L1 classes with Randall. A very good guy and an excellent instructor.

LTCC class is pretty damn good from what I've heard.

+1. Took Randall's level 1 course last season. The course was excellent. He has an impressive inventory of first hand experience in rescues.

ASI does Level Is out of Sugar Bowl and are known to be excellent.

I did mine with MAS in Bear Valley. Brandon Schwartz of SAC taught it.

I took mine at vailwood. Expedition K offers a bunch of courses. Geoff Clark was a damn good instructor. Would highly recommend him. As far as snow conditions go definitely try to do it when the snow pack is "interesting" or "complex"

^^^ Clarke is one of the main guys at ASI. I think it's only recently that he's been doing the E:K stuff.

Same experience as Driver. Took the level I class last year at LTCC and was impressed by the young, knowledgeable instructors (wasn't dry at all as expected). The whole course cost about $80. By far the best value in a level I class that I know of...

We are looking for several more members for our our Kirkwood ski lease. It's a classic
1970s three bedroom two bath with a deck and a large loft, located on Dangberg near Fremont.
It has a fully equipped kitchen with new appliances. The approximate square footage counting loft is
around 1800 square feet. An equipment room means you don't have to lug your gear back and forth.
There is shuttle service to the lifts so you can just park your car for your entire stay.

Cost depends on the number of members; we're thinking of 10 members at $1300 each for the entire season,
plus utilities minus guest fees. The lease runs from December 1 through the end of April. Members can
bring guests for $30/night. The house sleeps 12 comfortably.

PM me if interested and I can send photos and additional details.

ASI was great for AVI 1.
Don't loose hope yet for this weekend either.

    You know...the $76 resort...
    SV wrod.
    We did - mostly (fun)
Seemed like Family Day, lots of kids.
Wrod held up ok. Kinda firm yet corny - it was sunny then windy (one Tele guy on Spatulas!)
Almost bumps forming, but not really badly crowded - had to stand in line at GoldCoast in the morning (more peeps yesterday we heard)

The weekend actually looks better than previous forecasts but the big storm for next week is less likely and smaller than before.

Looks like one more day of kickass mountain biking, conditions are killer right now. Even felt a bit like winter getting chased by Nacho as I rode past Powdork today

    Couple shots from today

Is anyone making an attempt at putting in some laps this weekend? Thinking about getting after it on sunday morning, was thinking somewhere off of carson spur, anyone got any suggestions?

What kind of laps? I would not expect enough snow to lap near the spur just yet. Maybe S bowl by Sunday but most of that snow was rained out with the last storm.

    And nope. Will wait.

In other news, the surf was super fun this morning. Like super fun.

Snowing in Truckee! Yeehaw. Squaw was dry dry dry today, no surprise. Could have mountain biked down the same hill as the WROD. Bring it, storm!
