I'll be there.
I didn't believe in reincarnation when I was your age either.
Hi Tahoe, Bay Area and Norcal Mags,

Pretty sure the hazy bubble in the top center of the photo is the USFS burn the rain just wrapped up on the westshore.
Nice to see some whitish stuff though.
Dittos on the Start Haus crew. Hard to go wrong there.
Anybody know what's going into the old Truckee Porters place- 2 weeks of remodel (?)

Big, wet flakes here in Tahoe City.
Yeah, they announced a Tuesday they were not going to make it. I imagine they will shoot for Friday with a WROD if they can possibly manage it.
Honestly, there is not much they can do. They get a hell of a lot of inversions up there and they don't typically get real cold temps for snowmaking until December. Blowing snow at 31F is just inefficient. I'd be fine if they just waited until real snow and scrap the system. Although last season it allowed them to open the top with access to Oly. But other than that, I see little value in them blowing snow. I guess it allowed Buckboard to be groomed, which allowed those bump runs of 11. But still, they need some natural snow regardless. So maybe blow just enough to open things once they get 18" or real snow.
Man made runs tend to be much better at N* IMO. I don't have the Tahoe pass, but if I did that is where is be looking once they get a few runs open. I skied there in early 11/12, and found plenty to stretch the legs on.
I'm just praying for snow cause I want to go skin something again next weekend.
About 1 cm in upper meyers so far
Hope most of this rain that is dumping here in SF right now is going to actually make it's way up to Tahoe. The radar on the TV doesn't look that promising.
Really came down in the bay area this aft. Cant wait to see how this is playing out up there. Also read somewhere that the late Fri/Sat morning system was the strongest of the three. Keeping my fingers crossed.
powdork.com - new and improved, with 20% more dork.
$90 dollars to ski Cali run to tamarack return at the heav if you don't have a pass. I'll wait till next week sometime to make turns. Let people get over the jitters of being back on snow. Hell I might even bike up to east peak then skin up. FYI Heavenly trail condition trails hotline for UPHILL travel is 530-542-6922.
Heading up today to make some turns at a "secret" spot (wink).
Will report back later
Coupla mostly stupid questions. I gotta business trip from the southeast to san fran 12/7-12/11. For scale here we drive 3 hrs to 17 man made acres. On a good day. On friday 12/12 I can take the 9:00 AM flight back east with the work crew, or the 11:00 PM redeye and try to ski a day. Is, say, squaw doable and still get back to SFO? Traffic? is anything closer in worth it (dodge ridge etc)?
Appreciate your $..02 thx MT
"Can't you see..."
I'd say Squaw is doable to make an 11pm flight out of SFO. If it's storming that day, Sugar Bowl would be a better option because you'd be on the right side of a freeway closure if it happened. Rental car with AWD would be a smart decision.
Pure speculation on the weather/coverage/conditions at this point, obviously.
It's doable. You may consider Sugar Bowl since it's a bit closer.
