Judging by SB Bowl and the SF show last night, there should be lots of tickets available if you really want to go. I have 4 extras for Sunday, myself. Rooms at MGM were going for $65/night a couple days ago, too.

I think I'll probably get one of those for my next ride. I'm fine with 2x10 but not having to worry about front rings sounds appealing. What size did you go with up front?

So... this November forecast seems promising. Fingers crossed.

Came with a 32, but I swapped out to a 30. If your on a budget the 10 speed drive trains can be set up with close to the same range. Just get a narrow/wide ring in front, make sure you have a clutch derailleur and you can also get something like the oneup 42 tooth sprocket, I have a few friends running these with great success.

I'll take the SZ139s! PM sent.

I work as an engineer, so I could at least see how it "could" make sense to someone...

Tangentially related to skiing, but I'm personally pleased that they just annnounced Winter Wondergrass at Squaw at the end of March with a lot of bands I totally enjoy: http://www.winterwondergrasstahoe.co...line-up-tahoe/

Not so much, but maybe I'm doing it wrong. Usually I just hurt my back.

Things look thin up there on the cam, even on the upper hill. Any suggestions on where it may actually be skiable, or am I just out of luck on the front? Have you seen eback or any other possible schuss spots on your travels?

Not really but I have higher standards than some people on this board Think we need to wait and see what Friday brings.

I have a feeling that my standards are lower than TahoeBC, but slightly higher than Vets.

Got all my patch-skiing gear together yesterday and even got dressed up in my beater Saga pants and some layers. Then I sat around the house dicking around on the webz until 6pm. Finally got motivated and went out to see if anything was left in my hood. Sunrise Bowl had nothing on it, but there were several swatches of snow in the backyards of the houses way up on Ski Slope boardering the T/D x-country trails. Nothing really skiable, even for my low standards. I'm kicking myself that I didn't go up there Saturday evening apres work as it would have been passable.

Roommate hiked Castle Peak on Sunday and came across a gent with skis on his back, but they didn't talk to him nor did they see any tracks and my roomie's remark was "I don't know where he would have skied". Both CP and the opposing peaks look pretty scattered as of today. That said another buddy of mine swore he skied a service road next to Boreal on Sat, enough to log October turns.

Also saw pix of Rose, but again it looked splotchy at best.

Vets and Powdrhound and EastCoastPDR all schussed a parking lot up on CP on Fri and/or Sat...so you know it's meager.

Best conditions I've seen were the pix TahoeBC posted on his bike above. But that's a slog.

Planning to go poke around tomorrow and Thurs in search of Oct. turns.

Guess I forgot to post up the pics of my snow slutting on Sunday. Small areas holding leftovers from 10/20 on castle peak made for sturdy base, but still lots of sharks. I would bet experienced patch obsessives know to get October turns BEFORE it snows 5"and hides all the rocks. It was good nonetheless. Still a chance to get it done Friday night. Could knock out two birds and get costume ski pics too!

Well done ^. I am hoping there is enough snow on my street by midnight Friday to ski by some trick or treaters to catch October turns.

Experienced patch skiers don't get sucked in by 5" of fresh over rocks.
In low snow years experienced patch skiers re-visit tried and true spots where they know what is lurking underneath, too.
Experienced patch skiers also hike around potential spots in the summer to see what's gonna be underneath the snow when it comes, so then they aren't surprised when a shark snaps at their bases.

I've trekked around CP a lot last summer and a bit this and there's only a few spots I'd schuss after a light dusting. Alas, you didn't hit any of them!

    That said, good show, bro!

I got a laugh out of that too. I know there are some #freealpine-ers amongst us, but seriously, it's just an instagram account - people need to chill.

I'm mostly disappointed they haven't gone with the slightly catchier "Squalpine" or "Squawlpine" label and are calling everything SquawAlpine.

Who wants to practice with beacons and talk about safer decisions in avy terrain? I'm thinking good way to deal with Halloween hangover on Saturday or Sunday on Donner summit or Brockway.

Is this Heavenly snow making? Really nice to see on this warm sunny morning esp. since most resorts haven't been able to do much yet. Boreal is pretty much at square one for snow with Halloween two days away.

Controlled burns and yes snowmaking on tamarack lift. Large Wide WROD on left side of picture just to the right of East peak. At least from what I could tell from my ride up in Tahoe city. Also if squaw was making snow the other day it's all gone from what I can tell.

Ya know, this is commonly referred to as an Indian Summer.
However politically incorrect it might be to mention it

This year it feels more like early winter, as in late November, down here. It was in the low 80s yesterday. And will be in the mid 60s with rain tomorrow. And the surf has been fun for over a month. It is getting me excited to ski.

If anybody in Reno is in need of a tune up I have a gift certificate good for 1 stone grind at Bobo's. Expires tomorrow(10/31) so you'd have to pick it up ASAP. If you can use it, let me know.

Disclaimer: The certificate says non transferable but I can't see how that could be a problem. There's no names or info anywhere on it that would link it to someone.

I feel it too man. Driving from Auburn to Sonora this morning and even though temps are in the 70's in the Motherlode, the sky looks and feels like winter. Bring it. I'm ready.
