More snow than that still left at MRSA. Skied KC (x4) and Upper Ramseys(x4), lower Jetta on Sun. Man made base is holding firm on those runs.

Never thought of Mt Rose before in the same context as MRSA.

    Meanwhile, up above Forestdale Divide...

Me'n Vets skied about 79.7% of what you see in this picture, including the sweet chute just to the right of the tallest peak in the background.
    11 runs in 6 hours.
Not too shabby a Friday the 5th of June in the year 2015.

I'll be skiing around Roundtop/Sisters this weekend if anyone is bored and wants to burn some calories. Thinking about a Friday sunset/early evening session on Forestdale Rd...maybe hit that chute Dookey skied above etc. Saturday, the plan is a full day departing from Woods Lake campground to check out Moon and the evil Sisters. Sunday, may head back to Sisters or do a morning explore on Ebbets or Sonora and then head back to the Bay.

Anyone been near Roundtop recently? Curious on the coverage as it seems that stuff has been melting fast in the last two weeks (at least when examining the Kirkwood and Mammoth webcams)

I may be up for Saturday... Will text you Friday if it looks like it's going to happen. What time are you planning to be at the lake lot?

Earlier the better as it looks like its not going to freeze at all but I'm not too concerned as the snow should be shit anyway. I also have the whole day free without kids, so I'm in no rush for once. If lookers left Moon looks good to go, it would be better to hit that first than last for ease of climbing.

8am at the Woods Lake campground?...I'll park in the area that's more near the lake where's there a few parking spots near the trail.

Found some beta on Instagram from the last few days...looking good to me.

Hit up the ridge on the south end of White Rock Lake yesterday. HIked in from the Mt. Lola trail and the PCT.
Snow was pock-marked on the surface (no doubt a result of Wednesday's rain), but was damn smooth once we started skiing.

And while quite a bit of the snow on the surrounding peaks (Castle, etc.) has dwindled considerably, the north-facing aspect of Basin still has a few swatches lurking amidst the rocks and trees:

Holy shit....let's bump up the Tahoe 14/15 mega drought ski thread!!!!

Snow is NOT going to last long. Its not even getting close to freezing at night. I'll add some more pics/video later...

Caples Lake with Round Top and The Sisters on Friday night...

    South Lake...6:30am Saturday morning...

Obscure Reference makes it to the summit of the sunny chute opposite of Moon Crescent...does this have a proper name?

There's a rock blocking the exit into the apron below...just need to do a little ollie straightline maneuver.

Sisters Peak chute descent...super smooth and tasty.

Sisters steep zone above Round Top Lake...you can go about a turn higher but then getting your skis on becomes a major pain in the ass.

Vets lays a turn down Cock Rock, or Dick's Chute, or Shaft's Line....it goes all the way to Round Top Lake.

    Skied everything in this photo....SUCCESS!

And again Sunday morning the lake looked amazing...

Just got back from riding Basin Peak (both the north and south facing aspects).
Snow was a bit sparser than the pix I'd taken on 6.11 (see post #2564 above), but we still had some fun lines and some sweet corn.
There's a few lingering and farely rideable lines on the east side of Castle Peak, but the entry to them is a bit tricky and some of the run-outs are a tad dicey. Still, there's a few decent sized swatches to be had in the area overall.
Bonus is that the gate is open and you can drive all the way to the base of Castle Pass, thus cutting off at least 30 minutes of the approach.

Overall summary: a very strong El Niño event in the tropical Pacific is now highly likely, and although the likelihood of a wetter-than-average winter in California is increasing, considerable uncertainty remains due to a highly unusual temperature configuration elsewhere in the Pacific.
Weather West: Very strong El Niño likely during autumn/winter 2015-2016; significant impacts possible in California, July 13, 2015.

And no, my posting activity does not affect the weather, so no need for an antijinx.

Anyone know some of the better orthopedic surgeons in the Tahoe area (or a little farther away)? I don't have a serious injury or anything but I tweaked the weaker of my 2 knees doing hill sprints the other day and want to have a game plan if I have any complications. Not sure if it's a meniscus or acl thing or both. Anyway, anything you've heard would be helpful. I've heard good things about Anthony Zissimos in Truckee but that's about it.
