yeah we saw someone heading up under 10 and were concerned a bit for his safety when we reached rabbits and saw what had all released naturally

Wondering after our little storm of last weekend, if Tamarack peak near Mt Rose still has enough terrain to ski? After the temps yesterday I can't be sure! If anyone has any beta, please let me know. Thanks!

I drove by it on wed, and it looks pretty thin, with a kit of dirt patches, at least the part you can see from the car.

    Looked hard to connect.

Good news is that the skiin Ian slide is melted and consolidated. Bad news is the old moguls are showing through something fierce. Gonna try for round to again tomorrow and hope it's half as good as last weekend

ian's a great guy. it's entertaining to observe how he decides to ski. on many occasions, he chooses to make no turns from the top of 10.

The report from round top yesterday : bleh

Started at Lake of the woods and was hoping to take the valley up. For around d the lake and it is totally melted out on the approach. The ridge below Winnemucca Lake is holding, but barely. Was going to skin up it but it didn't freeze overnight and rockfall kept us off. Turned around with our tails between our legs.

You can see from the road that the upper faces are still holding plenty of snow, but it'll be a good 3+ mile hike through mud to get there

    Nice

How's that work for you? Do you get to fill an extra seat on the day off or are these comp rides for the staff?

Normally the kitchen/ground crew would fill empty seats. No actual days off, except when you came up on rotation to go fly. But even then you still worked before and after flying. This particular day was just the four chefs & Quinner as our guide. Best bonus ever.

I'm looking to do a short overnight hike and camping trip with my five-year-old son this Friday afternoon/evening, preferably around North Lake Tahoe. Ideally, the hike would be 1-4 miles in, close to a water source, and not covered in snow. Normally, I'd hit the TRT north or south of Rose Meadows, as there are plenty of good camping spots just off the trail. But there's still enough snow to make it a pain in the ass at the moment.

    Any ideas?

Grouse Ridge area has places that fit that criteria.

Probably a little too far to drive to and hike after work. But I'd like to check out that area at some point.

I thought about this. I've done that hike before with my kids. I'm wondering how much snow is there.

I just road western states and trt and didn't see any snow so I'm guessing minimal over there.

I flew over that area on Sun and it looked like the chutes were half dirt.

You could probably ski some decent corn in some of the chutes with a little hiking here and there. But the three inches we received yesterday and last night aren't going to help much. In fact, they may hide a number of the otherwise exposed rocks. (I drive by them twice a day, four times a week.)

Yeah, but it is snowing again right now on the KW cam. Got a fair amount of rain down in SC today. A shocker.

The snow was deeper on the East side. Definitely thinned driving over Carson. Still, there was 3" on the fire ring steps at 7,800' at 6:15 tonight. And it was snowing steadily.
