Sunshine Coast BC family camping beta

With much of the area we were eyeballing in the Methow/Mazama zone on fire, we're considering Plan B options for our summer van road trip. I've always wanted to take the ferry from Horseshoe Bay and drive up the Sunshine Coast hwy. Any good family camping suggestions with 11, 8 year-old girls? Thanks, just getting started.

Heading to Hornby Is next weekend for the annual in-laws family reunion. Looking forward to fresh harvested oysters on the grill and the singletrack. Can't beat any of the gulf islands this time of year, but ferries and campground can be a bit congested if you aren't early, or haven't reservations. Some camping options along the old island highway from Nanaimo to Courtney, but it has been too many years since I've visited any of them.
If you are meaning the hwy from Gibbsons to Powell River, last I've been in that area was before there was highway. Been meaning to drive it one of these days.

Yes, I'm looking at the road up to Powell River from Gibbons. A couple days up there before heading back down to loop up to Whistler, Pemby and down the Frasier River.

Wise choice. If you make it to Powell river, there is a great forestry spot at Dinner Rock just before Lund. Overlooking Savary Island which is amazing.
There is a few spots along the way before the Earls cove ferry. Family friendly spot called Catherine Lake just outside of Madeira park then the is Klein lake forestry just before the Earls cove ferry.

PM me for any details. I have a cabin at Savary Island. Known for the warmest ocean water in BC for swimming.

    Doesn't have much competition...

That aside, it's actually warm enough to swim there???
