    Up North....

Heading up to MN for 2 weeks mid to late June. While it's a trip to see family, will get on the water a handful of times. We'll be in the Twin Cities for a while and will spend some time on the Kinny then we head up to the Duluth area. Going to float the Cloquet and one other river, looking to get into smallies and northerns. Right now looking at the Brule and Flambeau in WI and the Kettle in MN. Anyone have any go to flies, usually have pretty good success with mix of poppers and streamers and will be stopping at the shop in Duluth too.

Love heading up there in the summer, counting down the days.

I fished the Namaquagan (sp?) near Hayward WI the other day and caught a bunch of smallmouth bass using poppers.

Thanks, that river's in the list too, a lot of water to choose from in that area. Hoping there's some hoppers around too but might be a little early.

The flambeau sucks...you won't like it.

The nam is a great body for smb, when there aren't tubers.

River levels are super high as it has been raining here since it stopped snowing last month. It is a banner year for mosquitoes and gnats. Fishing on the St. Louie is pretty hot for wally's and smallmouths. Musky numbers are low and <50 inchers are not as plentiful as a few years ago. Kamaloops and steelheading has been very slow, prolly cause iceout is still happening although mostly done.
