    Buying a car on craigslist?

thanks^ nothing seemed right about that deal.

pisteoff- he's 20 and been driving for a while and driven fast vehicles I've owned, but has a touch of a lead foot. Going forward any speeding tickets will be his problem to deal with.

we pulled the trigger on an 04 mazdaspeed w 93k. one owner, female, moving west with college prof husband and new baby. 4 blizzaks on rims (plus all seasons on it), 450 watt 7 speaker stereo w USB and a sub, threw in a ski rack, report from mechanic indicating required brake work, and receipt for doing it. $4,500. ran and drove awesome. slight oil leak in turbo and that will need to be rebuilt but hoping for 2-3 years. timing belt at 70k.

Nice action. Good luck with it.

The Blizzaks is a nice add-on for sure.

    So you're saying he's normal.

My parents only owned slow "sensible" cars. I found the top speed in all of them. Wish I hadn't wrecked my Dad's Golf tho... that thing was fun to drive.

My brother lost his license for being an idiot with a lead foot. I lost mine for being a miserable drunk. I think your boy will be ok.

Me too. Twice. The first time I got it back by throwing myself on the mercy of the court, which meant writing an essay (wtf?) and some CS. Being an idiot/arrogant teenager, I didn't learn my lesson, and lost it again about 1.5 years later. That time I was on the loser cruiser for six months.

@MMP Nice. Should be a good car.

when he was 17, he and his brother spent the day at UpperNotMasters (now Rusty Groomer) lake house with me at a party. We got home around 11 and I crashed. he decided at midnight that Denny's with friends and GF would be a solid idea. Driving home and passing the Longmeadow Country Club (notorious speed trap) at 52 in a 35 at 3 AM was a less than a good idea. Maybe he's learned something. doubt it.

It's been a while since I got caught speeding (knock wood) but I thought authorities (and insurance companies) didn't come really unglued about it until you were >20 mph over?

Also the jurisdiction. In Mass where the kid was "Reckless Driving" is totally subjective and on the officer's discretion.
