Bad joke I suppose. Seems there are a fair number of want-to-be-pros that strongly believe the number of hashtags in a post is directly correlated to your likelihood to get paid.

I'm more of a professional snowsporter than software developer. In an ideal world, snowboarding would pay the bills and software companies would shower me in swag and heavily discounted product to make my hobbies more enjoyable. But pulleys would also be frictionless and ropes massless which kind of defeats the point.

Ski company's sure are good at using people's images without really paying them.

If you aren't getting paid a livable wage for your efforts the whole photo/vid slutting, trying to remain/get contracts sucks imho. It's much better to just go skiing.

If you have the Mom/Dad spans it probably works really good tho.

Yeah. Also, photographers make cash off those photos and very rarely if ever does the skier see any of that. I'm not sure when it became compensation enough for there to be a photograph of yourself skiing. One that the skier probably doesn't have the rights to distribute.

Seriously, what do you do. You try nothing, expose yourself to nothing, and put yourself on a pedestal. Why you bother to spend time here baffles me.
