First off I don't give a F how or why anyone fishes.

But...I do find the differences interesting. What plugboots just mentioned is a big part of why I've been enjoying streamer fishing so much lately.

You see a fish rise and he has given up his location making it easier. When I'm fishing streamers I'm not just blindly casting all over the place. It's a (hopefully) educated guess about where the big, aggressive fish are. It feels a bit like hunting and stalking prey.

Hmm...kind of an interesting take on things. I know when I am hunting, I take an educated guess at where the elk are, then I go look to see if I can see them before I shoot. I guess I could take an educated guess at where they are and just shoot in that direction, hoping I hit one.

Give it a try and report back. Your analogy is a perfect match.

Maybe not perfect, but site fishing is as close to "hunting and stalking prey" as you can get with a fly rod. When you are stalking and hunting prey in a literal sense, you can usually see them...or at least hear them, smell them, or see their tracks.
