I'm not finding much news on this, but via Facebook I read that Hobie Alter, surf pioneer and developer of Hobie Cats, has passed on. The guy was an icon.

Spent many a summer on my 16. My intro to the trapeze... and flipping was NOT fun when you were 14 and weighed 135 pounds - had to be assisted more than once. Good times.

Guy was a legend. I had the original sail number 2016 and spent a large portion of my youth on that thing.
