    Help: Havocs vs G4s

I need an opinion on new skis and am told they are not in short supply here. After a few great hiking experiences, I am buying some Freerides and need opinions on the right ski.
I last demo-ed Freerides on set of Havocs and fell in love with the weight and tight response. Accordingly, I am looking for something fat, light and stiff. I mainly ski at resorts, but am looking to do more BC with the right equipment. Maybe a 70%-30% split?
Right now I ski on Volkl g4s with a beefy alpine binding, which is way too heavy and getting on my nerves.
I heard suggestions on R11s, Pocket Rockets and Jaks. They key element is light and stiff. I am 5'8", 175lbs.
    Let me know.

    TM:X

Have a G4 mounted alpine and while the TM:X is nowhere near the monster that the G4 is it can still hold its own and if my math is correct the Freeride/TM:X setup is 3 pounds ligher then my G4/Alpine setup
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

I'd recommend adding the Black Diamond Crossbow to your list - stiff, mid-fat (83 mm), and loves speed. I have mine mounted with Freerides and use this as my all-around setup, going to the Jak BCs only when I'm touring a longer distance and/or there's lots of fresh to be had. I'd recommend the Atomic TM:X as well.

Jaks/Jak BCs are not stiff at all, and only somewhat stiff torsionally - they'll hold an edge, but are NOT good hardpack skis. I'd cross the noodly PR off as well if you want a stiff ski.

    Just my .02...

Havocs seem to be a great bet, and you already know that you love 'em - good float for backcountry powder, stiff enough for in-bounds charging, light enough for skinning up. Basically the Crossbows and the TM:X are (in my mind) essentially the same ski - good for what you seem to be asking for, but perhaps a bit narrow by today's standards, and relative to the Havoc. Even though the Havoc is narrower than the PR or the Jak, it's more versatile, lighter and stiffer than either.

If you're willing to wait 'till next year (and if they can get their act together) and don't mind spending a little bit more, the drake boinay Surreal would fit your needs to a T. Way light (6 #/pair) super high performance, nice & wide (95mm underfoot). I have some of these on order, but don't expect to see 'em before next fall, due to their well-known production problems this season.
