Well, sure. If you remodel your house and ask whether something *can* be done, the answer is pretty much "always", but are you willing to pay for it? So in your uninformed view (mine is uninformed too) you look at it and say "they could do that quicker if they were just willing to spend more money!" But if the cost done one way is, say, $300 million over 3 years, and the cost another way is $500 million over 2.5 years, and yet a third way is $3.5 Billion if done over 1.5 years, which way do you choose? It's easy to sit in your recliner, IPA in hand, and say "well, they could do it faster but nobody wants to pay for it," to which perhaps the best reply is "you're not wrong, Walter..."

Wait. Stop. People in Colorado are telling construction, planning, architecture or development professionals that they are doing it wrong?

    No way.

It's cheaper to do it fast. The price nobody wants to pay is closing the road for months on end.

Imagine a lot of money going into labor dedicate to setting up and breaking down over and over and over.
Guess they didn’t accept my prefab double decker suggestion.

Somewhat relevant: the rebuilding of US 36 was incredible. Yes, it could have been done faster had they just said "screw it, we're closing the highway", and no doubt that would have been cheaper from a pure construction POV without consideration for other losses. But overall, it was like construction ballet that I watched unfold 2x/day, as they kept 2 lanes open in both directions, moving you from one roadway to the other, from one stretch to the next. It was pretty damn awesome to watch.

Roads were shit this morning. This is the worst time of year when you've got the melt/freeze/melt/freeze and the ever shifting freeze level.

yeah, shoulder seasons suck because the road surface is too warm, so the bottom layer is ice.

Yeah I've been driving conditions like that to the airport on elevated I-70, near the purina factory. Sheer ice, bumper to bumper traffic, can't believe I lived through it.

So I wonder if I-70 will be clear through Summit County this morning. Sky is clear overhead but thick cloud bank to the north. SQUALL????
