It is plowed but not at night. If the question is, are there mountains proximate to the trough road with snow on them, then the answer is yes. Touring? That means different things to different people. Keep in mind that the river corridor is the lowest point in elevation in the entire county. Personally, I'm a high elevation trailhead guy.

Great idea, but unless they physically block that road, Stupid, unprepared drivers will disregard. I saw first hand cargo van and 18 wheeler carnage during the Feb 2020 I-70 shutdown. I still wonder how the jackknifed rig blocking the road at the summit was removed.

I don't Facebook but if you look around, I think the scene is well documented. I believe the game is, "It takes less resources to block the road that is does to spend all night getting your dumb ass out of the ditch. "

I've been out of loop lately with traffic cdot/google/waze shenangians, wife was going to bring the kids up to basin for a few hrs into close while I get in a hike. Google telling us she has to do i70 to eisenhower and up 6 @ Loveland. Abasin website has orange banner US 6 E open to Abasin. Is this some ploy by cdot and managers at google/waze to redirect front ranger traffic patterns? Not seeing any cdot closures listed. Legit avy/control just prior to abasin or this a measure prevent backup near loveland i70 merge?

Yesterday afternoon Google showed 285 northbound as closed from Antero Junction until past Kenosha. CDOT showed it open. Turns out, it was open.
I'd generally believe the roadside signage first, followed by cotrip.org, then everything else.
