Well broke my streak of avoiding a 3+ hour ride to Denver since moving from Littleton 10 years ago. Can’t even figure out why it was so backed up to Georgetown, the road never even went to one lane or anything.
Just don’t know how you can actually be a skier in Denver these days!!
the christmas ass fucking is in full effect a week early thank you flu for sending everyone to come enjoy themselves
traffic is fucked barely snowing
55mph in the left lane today dry roads in officers gulch I'm wondering if anyone is left in florida cause they are all hear on vacation and can't drive anyways and add an inch of snow and they are stooopid
vail pass was a treat today with an inch of slush on the road 75% of the plates were out of state or rental
traffic in summit is unbearable I now use my horn at least 2-3 times a day
if I can drive with my knees text and talk on the phone while eating tokin on the one hitter and writing shit on a clipboard you can at least try to stay in your lane keep off the brakes and go the speed limit
end of rant thanks for letting me vent
That fucking construction for the second half assed shit dick toll lane is causing more delays than can ever be recouped. Without that shit closing lanes today, there would've been zero traffic back ups. It caused an hour of delays just today. What did they say, the last one saved about minute when it was open? Multiply that by the 50 or some shit days it can be open in a year and it still doesn't make up for 1 god damn day of construction.
The only winner here is express toll. Everyone else loses.
So are the different forms of reservations not reducing the number of people skiing?
Probably not. It skied like a typical Monday between Thanksgiving and xmas, so not really crowded.
This, exactly. Article below shows the EB express lane saved 5 minutes and less than 8% of traffic use it. On a 1-?? hour drive like I give a shit about 5 minutes? Data shows it doesn’t make a material difference so let’s keep spending...$70mm each way

It’s a westbound fucking mess today

Every weekday mid-morning is a mess Westbound thanks to construction in IS.
From my anecdotal observations, the toll lane does exactly what it was set out to do and I applaud CDOT for their efforts. I think it is an extremely valuable addition to the corridor and I am stoked to have one going in the other direction. Some people clearly don't recall what traffic used to be like through the Dumont/IS area. It is markedly improved for the general travel lanes and it is nice to have a reliable fast way home in using the toll lane when I need it/want to pay for it.
I70 is an absolute fucking shit show right now. 2.5+ hours from Golden to A Basin today. COVID won't kill the ski resorts but CDOT just might if they keep this up.
BTW, someone was putting in strong work on the Professor today. Very nice!
"The Colorado Department of Transportation and contract crews are in the final push to complete paving on the new Westbound I-70 Mountain Express Lane project. This work will require extended daytime lane closures Sunday through Thursday, December 6 to 10, in addition to the ongoing nightly closures. These extended daytime closures are necessary so crews can take advantage of the last days of warmer weather conditions to pave this section. If alternate days are needed due to inclement weather, CDOT will evaluate the schedule and make any adjustments into the week of December 14 to December 18.
TRAFFIC IMPACTS
- Single lane closure on westbound I-70 in the Idaho Springs area, between Exit 240 (CO 103/Mt. Evans) and Exit 238 (Fall River Road) from 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 6 and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, December 7 to Thursday, December 10.
- Nightly single lane closures Sunday through Thursday nights through December.
- While CDOT will make every effort to have two travel lanes open during the day Fridays and Saturdays, there could be some construction related impacts.
- There will be no planned closures during the Christmas holiday season, December 24 through 27."
