Same. Must have been in front of you, I think we passed the first wreck going up it was a trailer camper that looked smashed to hell.

I couldn’t believe some of the cars trying to go up the pass.

There was one coming down that blew through a curve at Quandary also.

Glad we left WC early, thought it would close for sure

The Generals are great. Hankook’s i-pikes are very similar looking, maybe slight edge to the Altimax.

Random post but did anyone see TGR is opening up a store in Breck? Just seems extremely random for a mountain never really associated with having much big mtn terrain.

KO2s for summer and fal. Studded i*Pikes have been awesome for snow and the occasional 4wd excursion in the shoulder season too. Tread pattern has enough spacing between blocks to clear mud and grab rocks.

Just picked up a set of the new Cooper Discoverer Snow Claw’s. Looks like a winter version of the AT3s. Look like they should also be solid.

so you guys are saying breck is like sking in the poconos?

in bitch news if this week is any indication of how the rest of the winter is going to go when driving I will loose my shit
the "newcomers" all don't seem to have any comfort while driving in snow its been a trying week and the stupidity seems 10x the normal
its going to be a long winter very long if you are not comfortable driving in snow and ice maybe you shouldn't be driving?

I went to the grocery store yesterday, a couple hours before business hours close on an "offseason" weekday (2:30-3 ish). It felt like clawing up floyd hill. It was absolutely a fucking zoo. Most of the tourons were definitely not from Colorado, or anywhere close. Some, even, sipping starfucks without masks marveling at the choices on the shelves.

Hit that shit like a 2 bit.

The extra lane work in Idaho Springs is impressive from a civil standpoint. Gonna be gruesome from a traffic standpoint with weather. Very confined space.

I wonder when they will be done with that. I will be avoiding going up past Idaho Springs on any weekend until they finish that up because its a nightmare waiting to happen.

It's expected to be done this year.

it's not like it's new, we dealt with this for how long when they were doing eastbound? In fact it was worse because of the tunnel work.

Sure, but the volume of traffic will be new. And they are currently repaving the stuff in Idaho Springs right now shutting down a lane of traffic which is the big problem right now.

why is the volume of traffic new? I mean, I realize we get more crowded every year but I can't imagine 2017 (or whenever it was) is that much different than 2020. And did you drive 70 when they were redoing the tunnel? GTFO with that "it's worse now because one lane is closed for paving".

The TGR guys just love Lake Chutes and Six Senses.

It’s big mountain terrain up there. It’s just not JH steep all over.

Haven’t driven I70 west from Denver in a month. No wonder I’m at peace.

I think you are misunderstanding my point. I am just sayin in these particular few weeks while there are lane closures in Idaho Springs for repaving, the increase in volume of traffic from its typical lull from mid October to the start of ski season traffic will make the backups worse in that particular spot until they finish the lane repaving and I don't feel like dealing with it until they finish the small bit of repaving. The overall project has had a surprisingly little impact on traffic flow from my experience. I'm sure those who drive it every day feel differently of course.

There typically isn't a 30 min delay getting into Idaho Springs on a Thursday afternoon at 1PM without the lane closure. Once all the lanes are open, it will go back to normal levels of suck which at least you can somewhat plan for.
