A weekend without bitching?
Sad.
Vail pass closed in both directions currently. I think the rolling 20mph roadblock may have played a roll in the WB closure. Car fire reported EB.
That's better.

Don't forget the double closure in Glenwood Canyon.

First, what an awful video, they don't show any closeups of the quarter. Second, CDOT is perpetuating the dangerous myth that tires with "M+S" on them are somehow useful snow tires. Really disappointed but not surprised.

Took me 35 mins Denver to Boulder Sunday to go climbing. Thanks ✌️
I heard a rumor that this work might go on for another month. Apparently they found some really bad shit in the supports and the team of geologists are worries about all the recent earthquakes.

Is CDOT slow to update, or the newspaper on the news before CDOT? or did they open, then close the whole thing again?

1/8"? That's ludicrous.
The problem is CDOT blindly following the existing traction law rather than advocating for a better set of laws. Or a law that says that CDOT may promulgate appropriate rules.
Heh, someone also pointed that out to them, saying it should be at least 1/4". CDOT response?
2/32” is the industry standard for when most tires reach the ware indicator bars. Colorado’s Traction Law requires tires to be at least 1/8”, twice the depth of “bald tires.” In accordance with the law, CDOT recommends using the 1/8” tread measurement as a minimum when driving in winter conditions.

"Twice the depth of bald tires". Isn't two times zero, zero?
Under 6/32" is about where even true snow tires get sketchy in snow, particularly in the spring, IME.
4/32" is well past a dangerous metric for winter performance. WTF is CDOT basing it on? Or more specifically, I am implying the law picked an arbitrary number.
Separate issue that seems to have gotten worse and worse lately:
HIGHBEAMS ALL THE TIME
Seriously, why do people think they don't have to turn off their highbeams just because there is a median? Or that they can drive with their highbeams on 100% of the time even with no median? It's really bad on I70 lately like 1 in 4 cars out there is doing this! Even repeated flashing and many people won't turn off their brights! WTF?

Related: using highbeams when a car is in front of you at a relatively close distance, traveling the same direction. Knock that shit off.
That's what I do if they don't respond to the first flash. But it becomes problematic when there are other cars in the opposing lane who don't have their brights on who are now getting blinded and don't know why, or there is a car in not far in front of you who is now getting lit up by your brights.

So then they get really flashed and I imagine their disgust after realizing my superior lighting technology is only available in their dreams (or the aftermarket parts selection of their favorite auto store).
You should have been here yesterday!
If your low beams are so bright or misaligned that they are fucking other people's vision over enough that they flash you frequently, then your lighting technology isn't quite as bright as your selfishness. I leave my brights on in your face in these situations if it's blatant.
Alignment is a common problem with people spending $10K to lift/level kit their brodozer, but not 5 minutes or $10 to have the shop realign the lowbeams. Kind of like the yahoos who buy $20K sleds but won't get avi gear.

I was kidding...I merely have SilverStar replacement bulbs and fog lights and many people freak out in their much lower to the ground vehicles and flash me. They are not misaligned. My vehicle is higher off the ground than their hatchback.
However the factory lights of many, MANY newer vehicles are extremely bright even in the low setting. Silverado, F150, and an immeasurable other amount of 2016 and later model trucks have HID and LED fitments. It is the way of the market.

Properly aligned lowbeams shouldn't get you flashed by a hatchback just because you are driving a truck, even a lifted truck. You are aligning the beam cutoff 2" under +2" right the center light height at 25ft. Same downangle for any vehicle. Lift will be a problem if you pull up behind someone at a stoplight, but they can't flash you with their brake lights, now can they?
Usually its an alignment thing, often after a lift/level (even the 1" cosmetic front levels 4runner owners loved to do), OR someone drastically changes their load, such as a pickup with a sled deck and a sled they drive around with all winter which changes the angle of the front, but the driver assumes that they are getting flashed because other people are afraid in the snow.
