Anyone who thinks they can get to CB in 4 hours (consistently) during the winter is fucking insane. Dry conditions from the Dino lots 3.5 no problem. Winter conditions, pretty much 5 hours each way.

Front Rangers just aren't going to put up with that more than 2-3 times per season.

The biggest threat to CB? Oil and gas goes nuts again thanks to The Dew...town gets over-run by texans even more than it already is.

The upside is that Frank can keep buying us beers and shots with all that $$$$$ from Texans!

Same people on this forum who say they get to Mary Jane in under an hour from downtown Denver during the winter.

Skied at A Basin today for my first day out this season !!! Only lapped grizzly road, it was core! Then got on here to bitch about "Colorado natives".

    Just kidding,

Abasin was real nice today. No traffic on I70 either way.

Hiked up willies staircase and skied the east wall. Lots of nice creamy pow. It is crazy skiing the east wall this early in the season. Most of it says in the shadows so the snow stays pretty good.

Zuma bowl was getting slushy in the warm sunshine.

Skiing on the weekdays is the way to go. I70 really is not bad at all outside of the known problem times.

Shhh, don't tell everyone. You must only ski on weekends, that's how it works. Most ski areas aren't even open during the week.

Looks like the "secret" is out about taking the Hwy 6 canyon road from Golden to Idaho Springs vs. sitting in traffic on Floyd Hill.... I just looked at Google Maps (and CDOT) and it's backed up for 7-8 miles before even getting to I-70.

It's going to take those pour souls an hour just to get to I-70 from that point, holy shit.

    OFFICIAL I70 BITCH THREAD....

And of course, Vail Pass was closed with multiple accidents. Can anyone drive in snow anymore?

Some guy on twitter asks CDOT: any idea what's causing today's traffic? [emoji23]

Wife and I drove past hudge back-ups last Saturday on our way to the airport. Backed up at least to Genesee @7:30.

No sympathy here; if these morans haven't figured out that a 7am departure isn't early enough on ANY weekend, much less MLK, well, have fun with that.

Going to talk to the boss about switching my work days from Tues-Fri to Wed-Sat the minute I get back. Dispatch can use the extra help on our busiest day anyway, aside from my own selfish motivation.

Saturday to me is the least desirable day to have off, summer or winter.

Holy shit, I damn near throat punched at least a dozen people in 30min at walmart yesterday, both in the store, and just trying to gtfo of the parking lot.

I'll venture a guess that they suck just as much at driving as they do shopping. Don't get me started on parenting...

You went to Walmart. What other outcome could you have possibly expected?

Was just about to say the first problem is that you went to Walmart.

Wtf is wrong with you ? Do you really want to be surrounded by white trash trump supporters?

    OFFICIAL I70 BITCH THREAD....

I've been in NC for a week visiting my in-laws. I just wanted an excuse to get out of the house, and they asked me to pick up a 20 pack of Bounty.

Flying back tomorrow and back to work on Tuesday to try and keep you lot safe on your way to getting the goods.

    You're welcome.

On a side note, I don't think there were a lot of Trump supporters in that walmart. Most of them likely didn't vote for anyone due to either apathy or voter suppression.

I did get to play some golf (which I suck at) down here for the two days out of ten that it didn't rain, and the wife was happy to see her folks, so should be a good stretch of guilt free ski days ahead.

Pew research studies of party affiliation/income level, cross-referenced against Walmart demographic data (per Kantar Retail consulting polls) conclude that at a national level: you speak from thy ace. Frisco Walmart could indeed be Trump support heavy during the week, but on wkds? Doubtful. It's finger in wind. Walmart is for the most part an equal opportunity hot mess, until you break into the lowest 20% quintile of society...then it's overwhelmingly donkey affiliation by a margin approaching 30%.

the frisco wal mart would be a excellent case study

talk about a collision of people, southern white trash buying gloves hats and jackets while on their first ever mountain vacation, old time rednecks from kremmling with side arms, old white ladies staying at her third house that is worth over three million dollars, Hispanics that only know alittle english, homeless people passing through camping out and begging for money, the average summit county joe/jane stocking up on household goods, african immigrants, I think I've seen it all in there, and I haven't even started in on the super wal-mart in avon, where else is someone buying lobster and another person is using food stamps fifteen minutes from a world class ski destination
