CDOT did a great job yesterday laying down mag chloride before the storm really hit. Plus the new signage and tunnels getting open. Kudos

Left denver a little after 6am and was in abasins lot a little after 8. Wasn't too bad. Drive back was a little slower this afternoon.
West I70 looked awful, though. Basically a parking lot from US40 to the tunnel.
Avalanche control on Vail pass right now. Closed for a bit
I left Boulder this morning at 6:00 and it took me 1:40 to get to LL (usually 1:30). On the way back, however, I-70 westbound was FUCKED. Bumper to bumper, moving at about 3 mph all the way from the tunnel back to the Winter Park exit.
To be fair, however, those were some of the worst driving conditions I've seen in a while. Visibility wasn't much more than 50 feet most of the morning.
What was up with the piñon nuts truck in Vail pass. He was doing pizza to French fries all the way down.
I have more skis and bikes than Facebook friends.

Dude skinning past the I70 parking lot. Classic.
That's awesome!

Ha. Yeah, I don't miss that drive.
Bwahahaha. Thats so great. Pretty much sums this thread up
That's fucking hilarious!
Change is good. You go first.
At a complete standstill @ mile marker 219
I heard they were giving the plow drivers the week off for xmas. highway will reopen in 2015.
Complete standstill at GTown...is it a whiteout up by Loveland?
Dear guy that gets in to the fast lane at ~25mph to pass the guy in the slow lane doing ~22mph right as i'm approaching at 55mph in the fast lane: you suck and I almost wish I hadn't been able to slow down enough just so that you could experience some negative consequence of your sheer idiocy.
But seriously, i've driven in snowy mountainous places and have to say that 1) CDOT does a spectacular job of keeping the roads open between Silverthorne and the various i-70 ski areas (at least for those that are properly equipped) and 2) the drivers on i-70, in many cases, truly boggle the mind with their stupidity.
Yup^^^
CDOT guys on the ground do a pretty job.
this stupidity even eclipse the SLC folks who roll on I15 with bald tires and too much speed?
Something about the wrinkle in your forehead tells me there's a fit about to get thrown
And I never hear a single word you say when you tell me not to have my fun
It's the same old shit that I ain't gonna take off anyone.
and I never had a shortage of people tryin' to warn me about the dangers I pose to myself.
Patterson Hood of the DBT's
A 303 family in their Chevy Tahoe slid off the road into a ditch across from my place yesterday. I took a couple of shovels to go try and help dig him out. Front tires were so damn slick. I told the guy that was his problem and he told me he thought he could get a few more miles out of em. Then told me he had gotten stuck on the way up.
