Yep. I complained loudly when they changed the website, and they told me how awesome the new site was and I just needed to learn it, but gave me a link to the old site that was still up but hidden, but it's gone now. New one sucks. Send them an email. They're never going to do anything unless enough people tell them how they took a really useful site and fucked it up.

No doubt some low/no paid intern did a 'bang up job' on revamping the site and his/her supervisor took credit and got a bonus because of it's alleged greatness. The pages that have road conditions use about 1/4 of the space for info and the rest for nothing useful.
Morons! And yes, many complaints to CDOT...but I searched the site a couple times and can't find an email, link, nothing to actually contact them.
dot_info@state.co.us is what I have used.

Just took an I70 survey...sounds like westbound express lane is next. I'd personally love a summer/season of no construction traffic
ROLL TIDE ROLL
^ they're really doubling down on the half a lane strategy... Makes sense... obviously, the road that they claim is so treacherous that no one could properly maintain it, and mostly driven on by rwd cars with bald tires, is best served by lanes that are too narrow to meet federal highway specifications, and offer no shoulder for emergency stopping or access. Brilliant strategy.

Be sure to call and e-mail the two Republican Senators listed and inform them of their complete incompetence.
Killing the bill isn't completely incompetent if it has no enforcement provision. That is nothing different than what we have now.
Article omits the actual bill language, but I believe it would have made snow tires / awd an all winter requirement. Could have been useful for forcing rental car companies to ensure their vehicles have snow tires.
Killing the bill entirely, rather than amending it to add some sort of enforcement, is IMO, incompetence.
As you have seen this season, the express lane has actually helped somewhat at alleviating congestion during peak hours.
When the lane is not in use (90% of the time) you have a nice wide shoulder to offer emergency / stopping access.
Are you opposed to incremental improvements along I-70?
My experience with the express lane this season has been overwhelmingly positive. It has helped alleviate traffic somewhat, and for 5 bucks you can breeze past the slower moving traffic on the right.
Maybe I am biased, because the firm I used to work for was somewhat involved with the project, but I think the express lane is a success.
^ this. Since that's the reason they quoted I can't blame the repubs. Colorado loves it's unenforcable laws.
They should have just added verbiage that simply says if you get stuck or cause an accident and it's found that you have inappropriate equipmemt your vehicle will be impounded and crushed. Seems fair.
That's a pretty bold statement. It's certainly helped those who choose to spend the money and there has been way more of them than I thought there would be. This has been a pretty easy year weather wise down in that area so it's hard to say. There has certainly been a few accidents which may have been partially contributed to by that lane. At the end of the day though the real difference down there was the widening of the twin tunnels. We unfortunately didn't get much of a chance to evaluate their benefit as CDOT jumped right into additional traffic snarling construction in the area. This was the first year in a long time that the stretch from Georgetown to The twin tunnels has been construction free. This combined with our wider tunnels and few snowy Saturday and Sunday evenings deserves the credit.
the problem with I70 road work is they are doing alittle here and a little there year after year with no end, instead of a massive four year project they will screw around fixing and repairing (not upgrading) for the next 50 years
the legislature has cut road funding dollars this year and put that money into some other bullshit pet project
these elected officials need to get a backbone and start getting real about taxes and funding for roads but they are all a bunch of pussies
they have been working on four laneing breck to frisco for over ten years now and it's still not done. They are going to start farmers corner to the hospital this sping but guess what they don't have any money to four lane from the hospital stop light to the county commons stop light at the edge of frisco who the fuck is in charge? So they are saying unless they come up with some money it will go down to two lanes between the two stop lights or maybe they will let you drive on the shoulder. they aren't sure yet someone needs to clean house at cdot and fire all these lazy incompetent government employees and start electing politicians who have a backbone
I think you're biased because you don't know what real success looks like. Sure, the PPSL helps a little... And if they'd laid another 3' of asphalt, they'd have a real lane that could be open all the time, that could always be generating toll income, and that they wouldn't have to pay someone to administer accessibility. The overall impact of the project would have been nearly identical, and the incremental cost for completion of the addition lane width would have been tiny compared to the overall cost of the project. Instead, we pay 95% of the cost, and suffer 100% of the impact for a half assed solution that doesn't even really fix today's problems, let alone the problems we'll have 5 years from now. So while it helps a little, in the long run the PPSL is a collosal waste of money that guarantees there will be another major road project in the area long before the road would otherwise require significant maintenance. Talk about so close, and yet so far.
They are just waiting for smart cars to fix all the problems so they don't have to. Remember?
