Yowzers - as long as you're doing more driving than skiing its all good

Watched the cluster unfold on the phone whil at the parking lot at Copper yesterday afternoon. Saw the closure come down and the bumper to bumper back up towards Frisco. We bailed to Leadville for some cheap hotel and pizza.

Got up and skied the fresh pow at Copper 8:30 to 11:30 and bailed. Traffic jam at the tunnel at 12 Noon!!!!!!! Getting harder and harder to beat the shit anytime on the weekend.

I bought a condo in Basalt just for this very reason, paying off nicely lately.

When I was in CB recently a few locals told me that they're getting more and more Denver people because, hey, if it's going to take three hours, at least the crowds are thinner.

Not that I doubt you heard that in CB, but I'd like to know who's going Denver to CB in 3 hours

Hate that bullshit. Had to sit in it this morning on the way down Vail pass from pretty much the top. Better than 25mi I guess.

    Thinner crowds and thinner snow.

If I could find a job that paid proportionally well and offered the same opportunity in Durango or Steamboat or Jackson or Revelstoke or Seattle or Lyon or Geneva or Wanaka I'd move in a second.

Seattle is the only decent skiing location that realistically has career options. One of my best friends moved there from Boulder a couple years ago. He's way happier there than he was in Boukder and he now skis about 30x more powder than I do.

I think I'll start seriously looking for jobs there. Fuck Colorado.
6 days a year when I bailed. 4 of those were because of the ex's job getting us a condo in BC and Aspen from the US Ski Team. Granted I did back up to USFS with semi-legal empty mountain bike trails that were dry 350 days a year. Not fuck your career but if I've learned anything recently it's fuck the bull shit. Figure out what you want and do it because it's not going to fix itself.

Swing up here for a couple of days. You and I can laugh at people bitching about lift lines, traffic and the mountain being skied out. Beers on me and only a short flight to Denver or SLC.

I've done it. In my 20's, when hitting 100mph for long stretches through south park in summer didn't seem like a bad idea. That said, I drove from Denver to CB last night in the teeth of the storm and it was still under 5 hours. And I've definitely had a lot of real estate clients from Denver recently who would rather do that without traffic than sit in traffic for almost the same amount of time. Not to mention the better terrain and a cool town...

I have a great view of the suffering from the Bakers Brewery. Will report when things improve.
I have more skis and bikes than Facebook friends.

CB on three hours. We need to create a rip in the space-time continuum.

Ditto. I've looked for jobs (not Seattle) but there isn't shit for tech jobs in the semiconductor industry. I think I'll save up money until I can pay cash for a place in Montana then live off my wife's income.

A surprisingly easy 2:15 drive back to Boulder from Winter Park tonight, left at 6:15pm.

Out of all maggots, is there anyone who constantly gets caught more (publicly) in the I70 shitshow than Kevo? Maybe Snowshow!
I tell you what, Cameron Pass through the Poudre is quite a white knuckle ride in a snowstorm. 4:45 from Steamboat to Arvada via 14 in this weather? I'll take it.
