Made the drive to the airport today. Left LL at 3.....that express lane was 5 bucks and there were like 5 people in it. Zoomed past a ton of cars, probably saved me 20 min. Why weren't more people using it?

ROLL TIDE ROLL
My theory got tested on Saturday and it fkn worked.
Hwy 6 was closed for avy control around 4ish and traffic coming out of the tunnel east was all clear. Shut that bitch down! And stop metering traffic in the tunnel when it's not necessary.

However, 40 was backed up to the big bend on Berthoud all the way into Empire. That was enjoyable.
Left Boulder at 6am Saturday. Hadn't even made it to Idaho springs by 9am so we turned around. I think it was a classic "OMG there is snow in Denver the mountains must be epic!!!" situation. Saturdays seem like they are no longer worth it unless you leave Denver at 5am or Boulder at 4am.
Odd, did you take 70 or 6 from Golden? We left Boulder at ~7am, expecting to hit a fair amount of traffic, but I did not expect to sit in the Canyon for an hour - that was a new record for me (on dry roads and no accidents). I considered bailing more than once while in the canyon, but still made it to Vail Pass by 10AM. 70 past Floyd was moving well for a weekend IMO...
Are all BMW drivers douchebags? Seems like the overwhelming majority are.
I left my house on Saturday at 2am, was at the top of berthoud pass and 3:30, skied till 10am and was home by 11:30, I don' see what all the fuss is about.
I just don't get the logic of the thousands of weekend warriors who clog I70 at 10 to noon Saturday's. I think traffic is worse later compared to 7 or 8. If you're going to be that lazy about getting going, just go for a hike in Evergreen or RMNP. It cannot be exciting to show up at the mtn late, ski a couple of crowded runs after standing in 10-15 min lift lines, then stop for late lunch, then a few more, then head back and get caught in the traffic metering. Go find something else to do...
I don't get the logic of people who drive right into the slug of traffic, again and again.
Yes, I70 sucks on weekends. I'm guilty of bitching about it. It's also predictable as hell.
A few 10-20 minute delays here and there don't ruin my day. When I drive into a standstill? That's on me.
Got to make your Gapic Pass worth your money. Or you don't get your shit together til morning.
One of the things about being a weekend warrior in CO -- you need to like preparation and early mornings unless you're okay with not being home until 9pm. Some of my friends get this, some do not. The ones that don't generally don't have much fun in the mountains during the winter because like of well-thought out plans makes their days suck.
Exactly. You'd think people would just give up eventually.
FWIW, I do think the toll lane is working. Problem is it's only a 13 miles solution. And those paying the tolls make up maybe 10 mins but still sit in ridiculous traffic up and back.

I could not get my daughter moving Saturday morning, a friend pinged me he went by Evergreen Parkway about 6:55 smooth sailing. She doesn't get it together and in the pickup and it was about 7:30 when we hit the parkway. I see all three lanes blown up all the way back before the parkway and people are coming off to take 40. Hmmm...Hit it yesterday about 6:45 and blazed right up, cold as balls yesterday at the Love hoowee.
