heading to WP on Friday afternoon, there was an insane line of traffic heading EB, Floyd Hill all the way through Idaho Springs. Ouch.

That pattern evaporated a year or so ago don't know why as a once a week user it's screwed me so many times this year

Most of the shit seems to he user error and I think it's gotten way worse as big and beautiful as floyd hill will be when done the next two years are going to cause a hell of a mess

Drove back from AZ yesterday. Was gonna connect with I70 in UT or GJ. Stayed south instead when we saw red on the map. Nice drive through the southern part of the state. No traffic whatsoever. Watching for deers at night was a little stressful though.

ETA: Speedway gas stations are shit. Maverick stations however are badass. I'm considering get a membership. That is all.

We are only about 30 years behind the times with gas stations. The South has is figured out.

Wawa is pretty much the high end but Racetrac, Royal Farms, Sheetz all have there benefits

New Maverick in Avon is worth the stop. Good food for a gas station. Ethanol free gas available at a lot of them. My wife's bladder only makes it about 1/3 a tank of gas and her lilly white ass ain't sitting on just any toilet, so the Mavericks with their super nice, clean bathrooms were sought after.

In the south the QT was the best when we were kids. 88 Cents a gallon gas, 55 cent GPCs and machine cappuccino with like 10 creamers in 64 oz massive to go mug. Got me to school by third period wired and smelling like weed and cig ashtray every day.

Maverik has the best gas station food, I don't think it's even close. They also have seemed to end the price gouging that used to occur in Green River.

Maverick also usually has free water spigots out by the pumps to top off water jugs while camping/on the road

Speedway? We call them stabway around here. Somehow they do seem to attract more shitheads than the other stations.

Yes, it's a Saturday morning but it is still early season, it's the weekend before Xmas so many locals are leaving town or doing other things, etc etc etc. The season of predictable traffic doesn't begin until January.

well, sure, it's like I say about I-70 all the time, there are patterns but you can get stuck at any time/place, in either direction. Best you can do is play the odds, and early season the odds are it won't be crazy busy on 70. So when it isn't crazy, when it follows the general pattern, I certainly don't wonder why it wasn't busy.

And skiing on the hill yesterday, the crowds were not there.
