Crazy expensive. On top of lift tickets, parking, and food...
Does anyone here take 36 regularly? How has the new toll lane changed traffic there? Is it better or the same? Are lots of people using the lane?

The best part is... no HOV option. It says the average occupancy on I-70 is already 3 people; I'm calling bullshit on that one. They just don't want anyone to drive in their shiny new lane for free.
I'm curious how often there are scanners in the lane. If you're in stop and go traffic, can you jump over to the shiny new lane, then jump back over to the middle lane before the next scanner?
I'm sure people will figure this out.
Also, I think a lot of people will just not give a shit when it comes down to crunch time. People will use the lane and it will be just as busy as the other two...
So it'll be just as busy, plus they'll be mailed a $30 toll? Great solution CDOT.
Highway robbery.
I expect things to be marginally better, but until the thing opens, who knows.
How bad are Sunday afternoons this summer? I got a 7pm flight next Sunday.
They've been doing safety metering every Sunday and it seems max delays of an hour ish....
ROLL TIDE ROLL
$30 bucks? Even Eldora couldn't fuck this one up. I can't wait to see how they do it though.
Two lanes the second it snows with 70% of traffic paying for toll lane because they can't see the lines and the left "lane" has less snow. No one is gonna drive a foot from the guardrail in shitty conditions. Cdot can't keep the current lanes clear and defined. This will be a cluster fuck and waste of money in the winter. Potentially good for summer, but even then, driving so close to barriers will slow people down.
What would happen, hypothetically, if you were to be mailed a photo toll ticket / bill and have it not be delivered to your mailbox properly, and you unknowingly never pay it? Aka, the photo radar loophole that many people use and have their tickets dismissed.

If they use the same company that runs e470 watch out. Really shady group that makes a huge % of their $$ by not sending out a notice of payment and then adding in huge fees. Glad I haven't had to drive e470 in years, going to be much harder to avoid using that lane on I70.
I accidentally got on E470 due to poor signage and me not knowing where the fuck I was. Never got a ticket for a fee in the mail because I had just moved so had not updated my address in the DMV file. Got a $60 notice two years later and was threatened with collections. Called and complained, kept asking for a supervisor until I get to someone who could reduce the ticket to the original fee of $1.50 or something like that. I'll never drive that highway on purpose.
"According to an agreement between CDOT and the Federal Highway Administration, the lane will only be open 72 days during the year, or a total of 657 hours per year."
They won't open the lane whenever it is needed? Why the hell would there be a limit of days and hours?
There are gonna be a lot of kinks.
Just went up 285 over the weekend to go to princeton hot springs and it was miserable, and I kid you not, 1 in every 4 cars had out of state tags, pretty soon there will be no where to go without traffic, at least not from the front range.... Anyone wanna just quit their jobs and move up to fairplay or empire?
I take 36 regularly, although almost always in a bus. It's hard to say whether traffic is truly "better", because you'd have to remember back to before the construction. It's certainly better than it was during the construction (which wasn't actually that bad). Not many cars using the lane, and I'm guessing that most I see are HOV cars.
That said, I haven't yet seen a really bad traffic day, where there are accidents or (duh) snow, so no idea what the express lane usage will be in those circumstances.

Tolled express lanes are the future for Denver metro area. In case you haven't been following, both c470 and I70 through central Denver will soon be getting toll lanes.
No one wants to raise taxes, or repeal tabor, so we are stuck with bullshit tolls that private companies profit from.
You can thank fucking tabor.
I hate TABOR.
