We got stuck in Vail for a while tonight coming back from the desert. Eventually made it, just a few hours late. Weather was shit, but roads were actually not that bad for us who were properly prepared. Trucks and 2wd cars were fucking everyone over. 2wd dually with bald tires towing a trailer fuck you too.

Made two I-70 trips this last weekend for a wedding. GJ -> DEN on Friday then DEN -> GJ yesterday.

Friday was a fuckshow with the carrot truck fire. Added an hour+ to my drive overall. Yesterday was better only added ~30 minutes, but whoever planned the back to back pinches down to one lane over the top of Vail pass can go fuck themselves.

50 being closed has really fucked my Denver drives the past few months. I don't know how ya'll deal with I-70 all the time and not want to jump into traffic.

That was a significant part of my decision to move from Arvada to the God-forsaken prairies of Pueblo. Plenty of other factors, but the relative complete absence of traffic to get to the foothills and mountains has done wonders for my fragile mental state.
Granted, I'm a lot farther away from good skiing and I've shifted my priorities to the dirt bikes and mountain bikes, but knowing that there will be no stop-and-go traffic on the way there or back is a beautiful thing.
