I live in Golden, ski 30+ bc days, never sit in traffic and ride bike when the skiing sucks. But then I'm retired.

Is this the humble brag thread or is it the other one?

Yeah no shit people with the disposable income and life flexibility to not sit in front range ski traffic don't sit in front range ski traffic. When you get up of your own knob long enough to consider something other that your own mega awesome life choices, maybe thing about people with non flexible jobs, kids in school, actual budgets, only one home and so on and realize that those people like skiing too.

Do we have a life coaching thread yet? What's the secret? Scratch offs, family money, being smart as fuck, great tits? I bet everyone trying to get home on a Sunday would love to know.

Well in my case it was the wife taking a semi well paying position at the university and us living in a 550 sf garage apartment for a year and a half until something popped up that we could afford (thanks goldenboy). And my company being will ing to work with me on frequent trips to projects instead of full time. What is this disposable income you speak of?

Google maps and isberthoudpassopen.com are both showing it as closed, while cotrip.org shows it as open, wtf?

Guess I will find out in a few hours.

People at the ski area were saying it was closed. Felt like is was closed. Communication is dog shit. Has been for years.

The cameras show cars on the road right now. And there is a camera that points directly at the west side closure gate, the gate is open. Pass is open.
Summit parking lot is closed. One white SUV parked in the plow turnaround that wants to get his shit towed.

CDOT can't make google maps or isberthoudpass open correct. Relying on them is just introducing a source of error. CoTrip is the source of truth.

It's been open all day but there are still lots of operations going on up there. And there's not parking on most of the pass at this time.

When I left WP on Tuesday morning (9:10am) CoTrip routed me over Berthoud but it was obviously closed. So CoTrip definitely not the source of truth.

All in, arrived home in Boulder (via Silverthorne) at 6:41pm. 9 hours 31 minutes door to door. Two quick bathroom stops. Four miles in S-thorne took about 4.5 hours.

I'm fairly sure that's false. No need to be an apologist for CDOT. Even their own ops people say the communication is a mess. I have a couple of friends that, due to their jobs, have been on a group txt of the people in the know since the pass closed Sunday. Its a mess.

It doesn't affect me hardly at all. I'm a net winner from the pass being closed. My truck is full of gas and my house is full of food. But we are trying to run a world class ski resort over hear and keep our somewhat functional county limping along. If it wasn't for shitty communication from CDOT, there would be none.

No, hopefully they’re all burnt out from last weekend’s shitshow. Or they’ll be replaced by those who didn’t go because of the subzero temps. Oh hell…

I think there are lots that didn't go because it was a holiday weekend and they expected roads to be extra bad with the addition of a big storm. we also go good amount of snow weds/ thurs. I expect it to be busy

Yeah, there are almost no safe days anymore. Next season I think I’m not even getting a pass for anything off 70.
