Are you doing something really awesome instead or how does that work?
With all the extra baggage that comes with skiing in-bounds these days, it's just not worth it to me... totally lost its appeal over the last couple years I skied. These days I just spend winters riding my bike down here, taking time off from a busy spring/summer/fall, or traveling somewhere warm to ride (or just travel internationally on a regular vacation).

You could always move somewhere with better skiing, better snow and less people. We don't have MTBing in the winter though- you'd have drive 8 hours to Moab to get to winter MTBing from here. On the plus side, that is probably less drive time to get to Moab than if you drove from the Front Range these days.

Sunday was an 11 inch powder day here, on top of 12 from two days before. I got a late start because I had to blow a couple feet of drifted snow off my driveway. I left my house at 9:10 and parked 100 yards from the lift at 9:30. No lift lines all day.

And…Vail Pass is closed again. Berthoud and Loveland still closed. Tunnel a mess.

Saw a new Bronco perched on top of a 3' snow bank near the Breck roundabout with his wheels spinning in the air. It was pretty comical, but out was. very slick headed into that roundabout as the snow had just started this am.

Meh, might as well have some Mags move up here. I followed a ski/ maggot buddy from college up here.

A neighbor and ski/ bike buddy from Golden followed me up here- he bought a house on my street here after visiting once.

Smmokan would be a welcome addition and would easily fit into the mix. The MTBing is pretty awesome, too.

If we move anywhere, it would be for better MTB'ing... I'm definitely not going to move somewhere the riding season is even shorter than it is here. The only place I'd consider moving from CO is the PNW, and the dreary weather up there is a tough sell for the missus. I'm 100% happy living where we do, since I don't care about skiing access. The riding on the north side of the FR is really damn good, and we're able to consistently travel to even better locales across NA. Besides, I can't afford to live up there anyways.

It was worth a try. I'll end my sales pitch

Wow, someone must have had it set to “rock crawl” mode when they should have had it set to “sand/snow” haha.

I'm headed to Snow Mountain Ranch tomorrow afternoon. When my brother raised the specter of "Berthoud might still be closed" yesterday morning I was like "nah, not a chance, never seen that before". But now I am thinking he might be right!

Hope it opens in time, and if not, hope 70 isn't a shitshow as we go the long way around.

Getting back on Sunday could be a whole other problem, lol.

What happens to all of the tesla's when an unusually epic shit show ensues like the last few days? I can't imagine any of them hanging for a very long in those conditions.

Don’t worry, it’s already ruined Utah, Colorado, California, Washington, etc have changed that place forever from what it was.

I totally get the not skiing anymore though. I went back to Utah last week for “work” and managed to get out for a few storm laps. If I still lived there I don’t think I would buy a pass - the hassle just doesn’t seem worth it to me. I know I am the old man yelling at the clouds, but it just isn’t the same place it was 30 years ago when I moved there, or hell even 6 years ago when I left. Moving to Gunnison has pretty much salvaged my interest in skiing. Minimal traffic and crowds at the 2 local resorts makes it worth it to me.

Seriously pursuing buying property in Gunnison these days to build a retirement home on in a few years. Ok, like many years, but still.

Some of us think it's already ruined [emoji6] It's all about perspective. I hope I can afford to make it work in the Gunnison valley again someday. Wish I would have pursued buying property there when we tried to move back in 2017.

My hope is to get back to Durango for retirement. Not the best skiing, but good enough, and the best lifestyle for my golden years.

Yes, I am ruining it, brotato.
