Basin has been slow AF. Ive been skiing every day. It hasn't been great but better than not skiing i guess. If they get snow, i feel like the spring ikoner crush could be significant since they aren't using their 5-7 days right now.

But yeah, pretty much the whole US is sucking for snowpack right now and we probably have the most available terrain and stuff to do outside of skiing of anywhere. So why not come to the mountains. Maybe they’ll drop more $$ at local businesses and less on lift tix?

People coming here for vacation don't give a shit about "insane prices for everything". They are rich. They live in a suburb, or city, that is not near the mountains and come here for the mountains. They get to look around at the mountain landscape while they wait in line, and they feel great about it.

    Very simple.

If you say so. I honestly have no idea about the demographic of the holiday skier these days. I do know that the front range second homeowners in my neighborhood tend to STR their place during the busy times. My friends that live in the city and have kids on vacation tend to say "fuck that".

So I think that is a bit of the "new normal". We've increased lodging with STRs and made the skiing part more affordable with the super passes. So at least around here, I actually don't think it is that expensive of a vacation.

when I lived in AK. I always felt the same way about heli skiers. Spend a bunch to sit around for a week while it storms the entire time. Than rave about it being bluebird while the wind fucks everything. I actually appreciate the fact that people can find enjoyment in things that I might not. I was in the grocery store yesterday and a couple of families were talking about the lifts they skied, they were excited. Last year I met two younger guys from Ohio on the chair. They wanted to ski the knife ridge but were hesitant to do it on their own. I said come on. I led them over to some untacked face shots. I think it might of changed their lives. I found it unbelievable that WC lot was full yesterday. The coverage is decent enough and I imagine if you were not having a good time it was your fault.

    OFFICIAL I70 BITCH THREAD....

Well, the times I’ve been these past two weeks, I70 has at least been easy. Seems like many in Denver may be staying down given the low snow year so far.

Talked to a tow driver that was on the truck fire last weekend. Had some crazy stories. Apparently it was about $250k worth of vehicles up in flames. One was a tacoma that even though the entire front end was melted, it still drove.

Is that like when you get 5 or more red plates in a row on I70? Half with their hazards on due to snow flurries?

"Breck, where the front range goes if Whole Foods and Outer Range aren't agro enough". The new normal is that its always busy. You've got The Holidays, the just after The Holidays "I don't go up in The Holidays" and the "I don't go up just after The Holidays, everyone goes up just after The Holidays", plus MLK and Presidents and then it's Spring Break. And that before we even start talking about the Trusty/Remote/Retired crowd that can ski every powder day. Any time that not one of these times its busy with locals that don't ski these times. Wednesday afternoon is the new Saturday.

Why you gotta be cutting on my customers? I gotta eat!

Saw some lumbersexuals outside the brewery with the hood up on some brand new overland with...yes...black plates. I really need to go out more so I can infiltrate the scene.

Whoa, an RV went off the side of Loveland Pass just above treeline. Crashed down into the pines.
